I LOVED this book. One of the best historical romances I have read!

Brilliant! Fun and very much enjoyable, though I did wish that she had recovered her hearing in the end... Meh... Can't get them all, I suppose.
I am not sure this writing style works for me and felt that the insta-love didn't make a ton of sense in this story. I thought there would be more push and pull to get over the animosity between their two families before their love could blossom but instead they just jump right on in, even before Eveline's secret is reveled. Instead the only animosity comes in the form of mean-high-school-girls-esque clan women being rude and playing mean tricks on their new mistress and felt kind of shallow.
Spoiler
I still don't really know what Eveline's long term outlook would have looked like had the King not forced her to marry Graeme. Just live the rest of her life pretending to be mindless? It just feels far fetched that she would not confide in her supportive family about her issues with her former intended (even if the book tries to clean up the plot hole that "her father wouldn't have believed her") but then she tells a near stranger that she was forced to marry almost immediately.
This was a nice change of pace from my usual dark romances. It was such a sweet, beautiful, and low angst historical romance. The H was top tier, so accepting and protective of the h. It was a beautiful story. I also loved how much her family loved her and how devoted they were.
This was my first Maya Banks book and I can't wait to read more.

omg this was so sweet! I think I'm in love with both Eveline and Graeme.
I loved how naturally everything progresses and how, ironically enough, there was hardly any miscommunication between the main characters

New genre of Romance for me, Highlander! Well, actually I just read [b:Outlander|10964|Outlander (Outlander, #1)|Diana Gabaldon|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1304187141s/10964.jpg|2489796] but I think that's a bit more than your average romance novel.
I enjoyed this book and the characters. I will pick up the rest of the series.
