A weird, chaotic, fever dream with the consistent thread of the stupidity and futility of war. Really hard to rate, tbh.

This is the second time I’ve read this amazing masterpiece. It is one of those books that you feel grateful for their existence. The world would have been lacking gravely if this book hadn’t been written.

This book is an absolute struggle to read for the first ~100 pages. At one point, I went on a long rant to my partner about how awful it is. But I pushed through after reading reviews where others had similar experiences. At some point, I finally understood the rhythm of the book and that made all the difference. It’s a great read, but the beginning was so tough.
