Disappointed with the spice in the series. Nothing until the very end of the series, and even then, it was lame.

I really enjoyed the final book and think it tied the series up fairly nicely. I do think there were some things that were left open and would’ve been nice to be explored more like if Seraph could tap into the powers of The Materialist or The Reader like it was alluded to. I also wish there was more spice - some scenes got really hot and heavy and then just kind of stopped. The development of the relationships really picked up in the final book and really culminated with Miro, Silas, Noah, and Cabe really learning to trust Seraph and her powers. The world building was really strong, but a lot of things were left open without answers. Overall, the story was strong and I enjoyed reading it, but I think the writing could’ve been more mature (not just talking about spice!) and the Zev world could’ve been explored a lot more in depth.

Okay now this series is done, and it was an very enjoyable read. Furthermore it took be about a week to finish all four books so I was not bored, quite the opposite.

Still I am hung up over one thing: secrets between the characters often drive plot, and the characters might learn a bit over the series that it is a bad idea but still it filled too much in my opinion.
I mentioned this in my review of book 1 as well, and it has been less prevalent in the rest of the books, but damn am I tired of that cliché.

My theory as to why this is the case is that the series focus is romance, but it also wants to focus on the fantasy part. It just does not manage to have a balance between those that I enjoy.

My preference would be more focus on the fantasy and a bit less focus on the romance. This could for me maybe solve the problem with relationship trouble being the major drive all the time, it got a bit boring and drawn out.

All this is not to say that this series is not very good, it really is, I just think my expectations were a bit different as to how it went down.

Okay imma be honest. I didn't love this book as much as the others, mostly because I was hoping for Seraph to end up with one guy (Silas, obvs) because I guess it didn't really get through to me that it's a reverse harem book. (Or maybe I was in denial.) I guess in a way they did end up together
Spoiler HE TOOK HER VIRGINITY, YES BITCH, HER TRUE MAN GOT TO HER FIRST, I'M WHOOPING WITH JOY
, but still. I wanted to see more scenes with her and Silas but instead Jane decided to include a plot and other characters, minimizing my Silas time. Hmph.

(My opinion of the book probably shouldn't revolve around my love for Silas, but I mean....it's Silas. So it kind of does. Sue me.)

But anyway, it was nice to see how everything came out to play. I mean Seraph for one had no problem getting naked in front of Silas has gained a whole lot of confidence and she's so much more badass than she was in the first book. This Seraph gets shit done, even if it means sacrificing herself for someone else. She no longer just sits back and blindly trusts people and it's about damn time for that!

Spoiler I would also like to discuss Seraph's powers and how Jane Washington is the queen of plot twists. Seph having the death power? Didn't see that coming. It was also interesting to see how her powers evolved, with the whole premonitions having a mind of their own thing. Speaking of premonitions, I wanna talk about how Seraph foresees herself as a parent. I wonder who's kid it actually is? It can only be one of the guys' yet she said it would be "their" baby. As in all four of them's baby.
Tbh, as far as I'm concerned, the baby is Silas's, because yes please.

So anyway, I like how the story evolved and we got a little more of the history of the Atma powers. To be completely honest though, I did find the end to be kind of anti-climactic.
Spoiler I expected this huge battle or something, but nothing. They just reported Danny as dead and then they all lived happily ever after. Although since she's with Silas, living happily ever after is guaranteed.

Okay I need to stop talking about him, seriously

And I wish there was more interaction between Seraph and people who weren't her pairs. Because while we know Seph loves Poison and Clarin and Tariq, they barely interact. And that kind of sucks cuz I love Poison especially and would've loved to see more of her. And speaking of, I love her and Charles together even though they weren't actually together. I swear I'm rooting for them soo hard.
I was so sure one of the major characters were going to get killed off or something but I'm actually so relieved because I ended up loving nearly every character.

Also can we talk about Silas? Like seriously this time because he was just so damn perfect in this book. "Team Silas", "Twice Over",
Spoiler taking Seph's virginity
... hot damn, I love him. I love how he can put 15 guys in the hospital and not think anything of it, like it's normal to be that badass. I guess for him it is tho. Hehe. Ugh. I have so much more I wanna say but let me not before I fall further in love with this fictional character.

And it was nice that the book alternated in POVs to see what the others were thinking (although I did find the different POVs to be similar in voice.)

So my final opinion? I'm still bitter that Silas wasn't present 97% of the time I honestly loved it. I love Jane Washington and all her books and I will continue reading every book she will ever write until I die. Because I'm loyal like that.

Also why is this the last book, I've been telling myself that this was a five book series so now I feel like I've been cheated.
Not really.
Kind of.
I just really want more Silas-- I mean another book. ;)
But all good things must come to an end, I suppose.

So it took 4 books for some romantic action to finally happen. In the last chapter. Near the very last page. So, yes, I am very annoyed that it took this long for her "bonds" to act on this and even then since it was so late in the game we don't truly know that the deed has been committed. For all I know, she is still a virgin but for my sake - I'm going to say that they all finally took her cherry (or something).

Other than that, the villain probably shouldn't have been such a shock but I honestly never saw them being this creepy creep. After the first chapter from their point of view, it all made sense and then I was completely grossed out. I don't think I will ever be able to move on from that chapter or see that person any other way. Yuck.

In the end, I'm annoyed and I need a new book or series to make me happy again.

Loved this story but disappointed too

Let me start with saying I LOVED this series. The storyline was well thought out and delivered. However I really wished the ending would have went a little farther. It’s like the whole series lead up to these moments and then she just cut it off. Leaving us to use our imaginations to fill in everything at the end. Which basically leaves the whole point of reading a book useless.

Great ending!

I devoured this series! Plan to jump into something else by this author soon. My only thing is I missed that would live clearly in YA for most do the series and had thought in this book we would get to see more of a progression. I’m okay with books that have less of the intimate scenes, but would have liked if they resolved their things earlier and we saw them fully together sooner.

I also felt like things moved fast and how the big bad bites it finally made sense in a poetic kind of way but was also a bit of a let down after four books of his menace and terror. I also felt like Sam just disappears and would have liked to see her more firmly put in her place in this book then we got.

Despite all that I still loved the series and will most likely reread it at some point!
