It might be nostalgia. It might be the simplicity of it. Nothing beats another round of plato.

Summary:
My second encounter with The Republic of Plato proved both arduous and engrossing. This thought-provoking book delves into complex themes of philosophy, politics, and human nature. While it remains difficult to grasp, its profound insights and timeless relevance make it worth the effort. I rate it 3 out of 5 stars.

Review:
The Republic of Plato is an intellectually demanding journey. On my second attempt, its intricate dialogues and abstract concepts once again posed challenges. Yet, its exploration of justice, the ideal state, and the role of philosophers in society proved captivating. Though difficult to comprehend, the book's thought-provoking nature invites introspection and challenges conventional wisdom. While occasionally verbose and lacking a cohesive structure, The Republic of Plato offers profound insights that make it a rewarding read.

Read parts of it for a college class. Might go back and read the whole thing one day.

I mean honestly? I kinda understand why the Athenians killed Socrates.. he’s a punk little bitch tbh.
I mean he made some solid points but his way of teaching is roundabout and often tedious. Like he makes wild generalizations all the time and it felt like his goal in every conversation was to make the others look stupid. I think by book 5 even Socrates was getting tired of hearing himself talk. Glaucon and Thrasymachus are my favorites. Socrates/Plato are very wise of course and I think book 8 is probably my favorite followed by book 7. Overall, I’m glad I read it but I don’t know if I’d read it in full ever again.
