I went in to this curious book thinking, 'Who the heck is Bob? I mean it says right on the blurb the hero is Viv.' I was not disappointed to discover the answer and the cheeky and curious twists and turns of her adventures. Engaging hero, interesting sidekicks and intriguing worldbuilding made this book hard to put down, especially as the plot progressed toward the mid point. Looking forward to the next installment.

Well-written LitRPG!
It is unfortunate when series come from RoyalRoad which are poorly paced, poorly written, and either slightly-to-terribly misogynistic.
But not so with The Calamitous Bob!
An excellent series that follows a female MC, The Calamitous Bob is a tale filled with goodness, inclusivity, and the cutest dragon. (All Hail Arthur!)
Also, there is plenty of badas*ery and the fight scenes are exceptionally enjoyable. (If there was any question that a series about world change is peaceful, you can put that to rest. Expect harrowing battles, stirring scenes, and heart-wrenching moments.)
The first book sets the trend for an i forgettable series and I highly recommend!

A very fun litrpg/reincarnated in a new world fantasy.
French special forces medic Viv is abruptly teleported into a fantasy world from godly shenanigans and must quickly leave her entry point, the magical radioactive wasteland of a fallen empire. I thought this was so fun! Viv is a great viewpoint to follow: competent, wisecracking, rolls with the punches, and deeply vengeful. The lit-rpg elements are simple and there is not an over focus on it, making it easier for new readers to the sub-genre. I will say that I initially thought this was a kind of cozy-litrpg due to the first book Viv’s upbeat attitude and collection of unlikely allies, but later books are quite willing to kill beloved characters to fuel Viv’s ambitions, so be aware. The later books don’t lose the fun tone, but there are periods of fairly brutal kingdom building/fending off invasions.
Highly recommended if you want a fun portal fantasy and/or are interested in litrpg’s.

On a quest to find a litrpg that I like
A meandering adventure through a world that feels comfortably familiar yet just different enough to make exploration interesting. All the staples of the litrpg Isekai are present as expected- main character suddenly transported to a magical world, explicit game mechanics being part of the world's everyday reality, fantasy staples such as gods and fallen empires with a slight twists. They are mostly used in moderation though and the character building is paid more attention than is typical of the genre.
The humor was simple but worked for me. I did not expect to get that much mileage out of a joke about people not being able to say "v" but it hit just the right balance of being mildly disappointed but not really bothered about people not being able to pronounce your name.
Overall, I had fun. The best litrpg I've read so far, not that it is a high bar to clear.
