I found it hard to give an unbiased review here, as I have watched the first season of S&B on Netflix which wasn’t great!

I kind of knew what was going to happen, but it was easy to read and not a total slog soooo I guess it was a decent read overall.

Grishaverse is pretty easy to love. Solid 4/5

Bardugo builds just enough detail (so it’s easy to mentally visualize) and delivers those strong female protagonists that we desperately need in our lives.
Looking forward to book 2 & 3.

I would also like to take a moment to appreciate the two stories (SoC and this one) in the same world. It makes me appreciate the leap she took once this universe was created.

Some of the words of the Ravakan language are hard to interpret. Early on thry say something about not catching “tsiki” I didn’t understand that at all...

I really enjoyed this first part of the trilogy. I’m excited to read more.

Very slow but also enjoyable, could’ve gone with more character back story and description.
