Expected this to be lightweight and a bit throwaway but it really caught me off guard. Much more emotional and gut wrenching than I was ready for. Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, every depressed person should be issued a pet.

this book is definitely giving a man called ove vibes but a female. heartbreaking but also uplifting watching her untangle and unlearn from her traumas in her past. shows you the power of a connection and a friend. support does everything. definitely glad i read.

Lots of dry British humor. Guess I’ve been through a lot because I didn’t find her current state or her past particularly depressing; that’s life. If you’re quick to find things depressing don’t read this book.

Loved the audiobook of this. Somehow the author made very hard topics seem much lighter and normal to discuss. Loved the quirky characters.

This book is not what I expected. And I really loved that. It was a slow burn. But I think it really paid off.

I loved this book. It's dark and challenging at times, but entertaining and funny too. For people who suffered abusive childhoods at the hands of a parent, there's a lot to relate to (which might be too confronting depending on your current headspace). I haven't found many books that manage to articulate quite what that experience is like and how it stays with you into adulthood – this book manages it both beautifully and painfully.
