Mayu and the monk's chapters were boring. Nikolai and Zoya were great.
I liked wlw Nina and Hanne so I was a bit bummed by that but it makes sense. Not really the ending I wanted Nina to have.
I found the set-up for the next book a bit annoying since it seems Leigh won't get to it for quite a while. A lot of loose-ish ends from previous books were tied up.

Oh god. Thank the Saints for Leigh Bardugo’s amazing writing.

After speeding through the rest of the Grishaverse and finally making my way to this amazing novel, I can genuinely say I was not disappointed.

After the absolute cliffhanger that King Of Scars ended on, starting this book was no trouble at all, and for me it was fast-paced and brimming with an extraordinary plot.

I adored watching Nina and Hanne’s relationship grow throughout this book, something I didn’t expect but also didn’t know I absolutely needed.

Another thing I loved was both Zoya and Nikolai’s character development, both coming to terms with their power.

One thing I loved was the appearance of a few certain characters, and the ending of this novel. I love how the option is open for Bardugo to write another book in the series, but at the same time, is left feeling complete.

The one book I haven’t read in the Grishaverse yet is Lives of Saints, and although I don’t deem it necessary, I still feel like it may have added a little more to the story for me, particularly with how this duology deals with the idea of Saints.

As this is the last novel Bardugo has written thus far for the Grishaverse, I can only hope that we’ll be graced with another one soon, because I cannot bear to leave this universe just yet.

This was such a good end to this series. I loved everything about this book and I’m heartbroken that the series is over :(
I read it much faster than I expected though it was a little tough to start. I struggled through some of the beginning but it was 100% worth it.

I just can’t even… what did I just read?!  This was E.P.I.C!  Nikolai is just a legend in the Grishaverse, he is by far one of my favourite characters and I love his duology (I may say it’s much better than Shadow and Bone…!) and Zoya… she was my least favourite SAB character and I didn’t expect to love her much but I love her, she’s a badass!

One of the things I loved most about this book is that we see the return of some of our much loved Grishaverse characters - yes, Mr Kaz Brekker makes an appearance!  I was literally jumping for joy when I realised we got some scenes in the Dregs with our Crows!

I read the last 300 or so pages of this in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop - everything reaches the ultimate climax and it had me on the edge of my seat.

Wonderful, amazing, all the stars!

Honestly, excellent ending to a series.

Well, I think it’s an ending? Maybe? Haven’t checked if Leigh Bardugo plans to write more for it, would definitely read them if she did, but if she didn’t? This would be a good finish.

Where to start? There were chapters that I felt were slow, and others that were fast.

Nina was a character that consistently took effort to enjoy. Truthfully, I just didn’t think Fjerda was a salvageable country, and had no interest of seeing any redemption or storyline surrounding it, more so than any complaints about Nina as a character (I digress, I did find her insufferable when Matthias was alive) only that her obsession with Fjerda was annoying.

The rest? Loved them. Zoya has my whole heart, and I’ll leave it there cause I’d rather not go into spoiler territory.

But yeah. 5 stars because I was genuinely happy with the ending, the writing, the characterization. Left me feeling hopeful for any of Bardugo’s future works.

Overall, I thought it was a good ending to the series but it was just so sad how many things had to go wrong and
how many characters had to die for Ravka to emerge victorious. I also really disliked the Darkling's redemption ark. Just why? And I thought Nina's ending could have been better.
