Well, that was sufficiently creepy throughout a lot of it. And the whole Harper's Island vibe really sold me on it as well.

I love mystery books especially the whole whodunit mystery so when I started reading this book, I was excited to get hook in it. Sadly while the book is entertaining, the characters in the novel were so annoying and cliche.

We have Meg, our protagonist that's in love with popular boy TJ but Meg's mean best friend Minnie is in love with him. We have other characters that are either a jerk or too bland to focus on. Like the whole mystery was so good but then I got annoyed with the characters and how they seem to have no emotion to the deaths. Weren't most of the people in here friends or something?

Another thing I didn't like was how obvious the killer was. I had bets that it was either Ben, Minnie and TJ. Other than that the book wasn't bad but I couldn't give it three stars because the characters were so annoying and unlikeable.

Closer to 3.5 stars. Reads like "I Know What You Did Last Summer". Fun teenage murder mystery.

First of all, the Agatha Christie classic AND THEN THERE WERE NONE is one of my favorite books. So when I heard about the premise of TEN, I was all over it. Put a group of people in an isolated setting, start killing them off, and I'm on board.

For the most part, I enjoyed this and got what I expected. It's a fairly faithful homage to ATTWN, just updated for 21st century technology and with teenagers instead of adults with secrets and guilty pasts. If you like that book and are seeking more like it, you'll probably like this one, too. Having the other house on the island added a nice amount of suspicion that made me think maybe there could be someone else on the island and thus had me second guess my predictions til the end.
SpoilerHowever, the twist with the killer is taken right from Christie, so not as surprising as it could have been.

But I have to take away one star because the killer's motives felt soooo immature, even for a YA novel. I just didn't think it held water given the “crimes” each victim "committed." It seemed like typical teenage behavior inflated and dramatized to the point of near ridiculousness. More importantly, though, the relationship between Meg and Minnie frustrated me to no end. I’m glad someone finally called Meg out on how Minnie treated her, but she was loyal to the end for no apparent reason when it was obviously not reciprocated. And I didn’t buy Minnie being bipolar as an excuse for that. I also cringed every time Meg mentioned giving up T.J. because Minnie was “in love with him” even though she apparently slutted it up with every other male on two legs instead of going out with T.J. Seriously, there’s a point where sisters don’t come before misters.

Other than those two gripes, I thought this was a well-constructed and well-written mystery/thriller, and I especially appreciated the multiracial cast. Recommended for Christie fans and anyone who goes to slasher flicks.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie are looking forward to two days of boys, booze, and fun-filled luxury. But what starts out as fun turns twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine. And things only get worse from there. With a storm raging outside, the teens are cut off from the outside world . . . so when a mysterious killer begins picking them off one by one, there’s no escape. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on one another, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

Ten is a retelling of Agatha Christie's famous “And then there were none” book with a YA spin on it! Gretchen McNeil’s writing is deliciously eerie and sets up scenes that are so spooky and creepy, it was like a movie playing in my head. What I liked most about the book was that I did not guess who the killer was, not until the page they were revealed, so major props to McNeil because she had me completely fooled. I had two suspects and neither turned out to be the killer! I must admit I found this book more creepy then genuinely scary. The killing scenes in this book were only mildly gory. However I found this book to be a fast-paced, page-turner that kept me guessing the whole way through and had my eyes will be glued to the pages!

Overall, Ten is a very well written, and engaging book that kept me guessing and turning the pages. It has all the elements of a good psychological thriller: an unstable character, mystery, drama, action, and horror.! I recommend to all who love a great murder mystery

Very creepy whodunit that would so work as a teen slasher movie.

This one caught my eye over on Amazon and now I've ended up with most of the authors other books. Can't beat finding a new author. The simple cover and the short blurb on the front caught my eye. This was brilliantly written a spooky, dark, deadly, twisted, clever and haunting young adult story.
I bloody loved it! I was dragged in. 10 teens on a remote island for a weekend full of parties where noone knows where they are... That was their first mistake noone knew they were there. The second mistake? Ever believing they were there for parties and fun. Straight from the first night wierd things and situations start to happen and from then you're trapped. 10 soon becomes 9... 9 soon becomes 8... All while a massive storm is happening around them.
Who is doing this? Who is next? Will any of them survive? Seriously gripping, thrilling, tense an edge of your seat read. I don't want to say much more about the story itself but its very clever, cunning and all planned down to a T. Crafty. The outcome I never saw...
Do you want to know what happened that weekend? Reckon you would survive? Reckon you will figure it out? Dive in and find out... I really enjoyed it. A well deserved four stars from me. I cannot wait to read the rest of thid authors books now if they're as good as this. Highly recommend.

I love all the creepiness in this book, although it was a little too similar to And Then There Were None for my taste. I wish it wouldn't have followed the book so closely!

I’m honestly really pleasantly surprised with this book. I thriller is always a win for me if it can genuinely freak me out and the sheer amount of murder in this book really did that. I don’t know if the romance was necessary but it was ya so I’m not that upset. Entertaining and freaky time.
