Seriously, Kyle?!
Just when you least expect it—Kyle strikes again! He's the real antagonist of this whole story.
I know I can always turn to Darcy Coates for a spooky-but-not-too-disturbing story with main characters who mean well but find themselves in a scary situation. There's also always been a cat. I did get a bit frustrated with Daniel when he
even considered listening to his garbage cousin Kyle. Kyle is the worst.
I still had an overall fun reading experience, nothing super groundbreaking or surprising, but perfectly scratched my itch for a Halloweenish book.

A first for me, I 'hate-finished' this book. The main character, Daniel, is unforgivably stupid. He lost this book 1.5 stars, alllll by his stupid self. The plot was fine, the story could have been fine, but for Daniel. I cannot stress how dumb he is.

'And so he would take each day as it came.'

I stumbled over this book as audiobook and decided to give it a shot, but what I didn't expected is that I really love it. It's not a book full with horror scene or jump scare and eventho some parts of the book is quite chilling, but I'd rather said that the story is deeper than that.

Sure the plot is quite simple and there's not plot twist that I couldn't guess, but I really love how the author could spin it with the creepy background and several interesting main characters that successfully conducted a beautiful story. I think the strongest point that makes me attached to this story is the characters and how they interact with each other. Not only Daniel which is my softest bun with golden heart that stole my heart even from the very first page, but also Annalise that is lovely in her own way, and last but not least Bran with his complex characterization. The relationship between Daniel and Bran is something that is so rare, adorable, and heartwarming that makes me happy even after I finish this book. Horror book which makes you happy in the end. How rare is that?

Sadly, this amazing book is totally underrated, therefore I hope in the future it will get more recognition. I would recommend it especially for people that need light reading / not-so-scary book with MC that easy to love and friendship that need to be appreciated at all cost.

An average Darcy read, spiced up with a male main character this time. There were a lot of thoroughly ridiculous plot elements, but overall I enjoyed it. Darcy writes beach reads/vacation books for spooky people.
