And we're back on the planet, and it just gets dumber.

So these aliens are super advanced compared to humans... and somehow they don't know that giant slug creatures live on their planet big enough to knock down trees and leave obvious "roads" that can be seen from orbit? [eye roll] Also they have no air flight control to tell them where a shuttle flew to?

Michelle, the female human lead, is furious to find that Alvez, the male lizard humanoid lead, has kidnapped her, believing that romance novels are prescriptive and that he’ll be able to convince her to fall in love with him this way. Alvez has abducted Michelle but he has paid attention to what she likes - he’s taken her to a historic village location where, many years ago, the villagers just disappeared and no one was able to find out why; he’s hoping to engage her intelligence analyst’s mind and solve a mystery whilst wooing her. But Michelle suffers from debilitating panic attacks that have been especially bad since her medicine was lost on arrival to this planet and that’s inhibiting her abilities and willingness to engage with anything, even Alvez and the unwilling attraction she feels towards him…

This story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a fun, fast paced, steamy romance. I enjoyed Alvez’s gentle determination to engage Michelle in a way she’d enjoy. I appreciated the effort he’d put in to supplying for her needs and that she was genuinely an individual to him, not just a breeding partner. I empathised with Michelle’s panic attacks and appreciated Alvez’s calm care and efforts to materialise a solution, amusing though the results of that were. I enjoyed Michelle’s persistent strength. I enjoyed the animal companion when joined them and the active support role it played. I enjoyed the integrated secondary characters and the support network that both lead characters had around them. I am GREATLY enjoying the way this world is building and the plot bunnies the author is creating. I’m looking forward to so many more stories!.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I loved Kanuz in his book, and now I love Alvez even more! Reading his POV won my heart. He's such a sweet, thoughtful, sexy alien. A cinnamon roll with golden retriever energy is the perfect combination for me. I want him to be my alien husband.

When I read he kidnapped Michelle at the end of the last book, I was worried, but reading about the way he did it in this one helped me feel better. Can you kidnap someone thoughtfully...? Apparently 😅

Michelle is a fully-realized character with anxiety and panic attacks that haven't been treated since she couldn't take her meds on Sueva. I appreciated her character arc and how she was able to get help and get better. The scenes where Alvez recognizes her fear and anxiety and then comforts her and talks with her had me emotional.

I really felt the love that grew between these two, and the spicy scenes in this one were SO GOOD.

I love January Bell's writing. She's able to make new adventures each book that are exciting and funny. I liked the mystery in this one, too.

January Bell has done it again! I love all these characters. The way this book dealt with anxiety and panic attacks was delightful. I’m so excited to see what happens next.
