3.5 in places. I was pretty uninterested for the first third or so. Then the adventures really began and it was a fun time. I don't know if every pirate trope we see in popular media comes from this book but I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. I don't mean that critically; it was a hoot to read. The casual racism, on the other hand, was less surprising and knocked my rating down a tad.

Alfred Molina as narrator? Great idea!

Book 8: A book that became a movie the decade you were born
Treasure Island is a 1985 adventure film directed by Chilean filmmaker Raúl Ruiz. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival. France, Great Britain and the United States funded Ruiz’s obscure and complex adaptation of the classic coming-of-age novel [b:Treasure Island|295|Treasure Island|Robert Louis Stevenson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1485248909s/295.jpg|3077988] written by [a:Robert Louis Stevenson|854076|Robert Louis Stevenson|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1192746024p2/854076.jpg].

I am not a pirate fan
TI

First Sentence: Squire Trelawney, Dr. Livesey, and the rest of these gentlemen having asked me to write down the whole particulars about Treasure Island, from the beginning to the end, keeping nothing back but the bearings of the island, and that only because there is still treasure not yet lifted, I take up my pen in the year of grace 17-, and go back to the time when my father kept the "Admiral Benbow" inn, and the brown old seaman, with the sabre cut, first took up his lodging under our roof.

In the past two day's I've learned why I've never ventured into the pirate realm of reading.
I just could not care less for any of the characters, and YES it is all on me.

Pirates just is not for me!
