I definitely enjoyed this book. I knew some of what was to come but there were still many events which took me by surprise and regardless of my prior knowledge I did not enjoy it any less. The journey is told from the point of view of the young Jim Hawkins who finds himself in possession of a map pointing out the locations of buried treasure form the infamous Captain Flint. This single piece of paper takes JIm on a spiraling adventure through the sea onto Treasure Island.
Many of you, like myself, have seen Disney's Treasure Planet which follows this basic story. Because of this I often found myself picture Long John as a cyborg and some the crew members as the odd alien creature found in the movie. Luckily i soon was able to school my thoughts to those of normal looking people. Although John did keep the voice from the movie that much could not be helped.
