One of my all-time favourites! Long John Silver is, in my opinion, one of the most compelling villains in literature. An amazing adventure that anyone and everyone should read!
Ugh. So disappointing! If your child (or you) is not ready for the original, you need to get the book on tape or something, but this version doesn't add to, and even takes away from, the original.

For starters, this is more a YA book than a kids book. It has a lot more adult themes than I anticipated which was good, the plot too is straightforward and a lot of fun. However the language is a bit tedious. Also the author kind of expects you to have a firm knowledge about mid 18th century ships and seafaring, which just went way over my head.
Loved this classic! Adventurous and kept me reading. I am keeping this one on my favorites shelf.
A page turner that has held up brilliantly, despite being full of all the cliches that it created.
