As a little kid, I watched Deadliest Catch with my dad. And now I have found what was missing! A fanfic of deadliest catch was NOT on my romance settings but hey, it was cozy. What a fun heartfelt read. It was a bit ironic that I chose this as my Labor Day weekend read and the books comes to an end on Labor Day weekend. Also how much money did the stepdad give them that they didn’t need to work?

There’s a hot fisherman if you’re into that and I enjoyed that his need for a straight answer help contribute to Pipers growth. There’s dirty/praise talk on here. But then he also is like I didn’t really love my dead wife as much as I love you soooo…do with that what you will with all this info.

It’s a quick fun read. I could’ve finished yesterday but I was good sister-in-law and helped brother-in-law move to new place.

Special shoutout to the mom of a kid from where I work who I saw reading this with a straight face in the lobby. Ma’am if those were your only 30 minutes to yourself and you chose to read something smutty? I salute you

Well, not a bad book. I mostly enjoyed it. The thing is I feel like most of the time there isn't a real development, not from Piper, but everyone else. She learned how to be an adult, to work, etc. However, Brendan, for instance, never gave up on anything. He kept talking about how she'd have to leave her whole life to stay in Westport and it ended like that. He literally didn't sacrifice anything—not that I think he had to, but why even point that out at all, then? He stayed the same from beginning to end, the only thing he learned was to love her

Another thing I found myself a little uncomfortable with was how they were having sex. All. The. Time. It becomes boring and I feel like that thanks to this I wasn't even given the opportunity to know Brendan. The only one I really got to know was her.

I also hated the fact that up until the end, everyone still treated her like she was a child. I mean— At first, I understood, kinda, but then she started to demonstrate how much she was growing as a person, why were they treating her like that? The only one whom I remember treated her like the adult she was, was her sister.

I was curious about the second book because of Hannah, but I'm sorry, I'm not reading it.

This book was an easy, fun, and cute read. The relationship between the two was very fun to discover. I loved all the characters. I loved that Piper was based upon Alexis from Schitts Creek. The first half would be rated higher than the second half.

Sometimes the book was a little over the top but I thought that was part of the fun. My major dislikes for the book was how it felt the
kid conversation kinda came out of nowhere
and the way Brendan talked about his wife towards the end of the book.
In the beginning it seemed he totally left ved his wife but was ready to love again. Towards the end it was more along the lines of the marriage just being what was expected and he didn't know true love until Piper. I would have preferred Piper to remind him what true love felt like, even if they were very dif erent.

I've avoided reading this for quite a while, firstly because of the hype and secondly because of a disappointing experience reading an earlier Tessa Bailey novel. Now that I've finally gotten around to it, I have to say the book was much better than I expected. That's not to say it was a perfect 5 stars, more like a 4.5 rounded to 5. Reasons for this will be discussed below, but let me start first with the positives.
- A whole cast of likeably eccentric characters, including the two main protagonists.
- Small-town life in a fishing village was evocatively and affectionately portrayed.
- Highly emotive build up of the romance, mixed with top notch steam and some laugh out loud moments.
- I loved Brendan and the idea that he was a "re-charging station" with his hugs. The caring things he did for Piper were so so lovely. I also loved the way he was described physically. What a turn on!
- A sense that both main characters went on a "journey" over the course of the story.

On to the only negative I had, which was the obligatory third act "break-up", which I found unnecessary and a little too predictable. The relationship between Piper and Brendan had been building up so nicely up to that point, and I think the "will she stay or leave" question could have been handled more sympathetically. I do hate the miscommunication and the "something happens to keep the two apart" tropes. When I encounter them, I just feel manipulated by the author, and not in a good way.

I’m gonna be honest here: I really thought this book had to be overhyped. I’ve read plenty of Tessa Bailey in my day, and while I’ve enjoyed the experience of reading almost every single one of them, I’m not entirely sure I can remember the plot of any of them. This one, though? She created such fun, dynamic, swoon-worthy characters that it would be impossible to forget them. Honestly, this book is rom-com perfection

Piper Bellinger, party-girl extraordinaire, finally went too far. As punishment for her behavior, her step-dad sends her to exile… in Westport. Why there? Because it is the town where Piper was born and lived until age 4 when her father passed away and her mother fled to LA. Piper isn’t too excited, but it could be worse; her sister Hannah chose to come with her, after all. But something strange happens as Piper begins to put down roots in a place that she barely remembers. And the sturdiest root of them all is Brendan, a burly, local fishermen captain who couldn’t be more different from Piper. After a rocky start, Brendan and Piper begin to realize that they are drawn to each other in ways neither of them have felt before.

Honestly, I can’t decide if I liked Piper or Brendan more, which is very strange for me. Brendan is an amazing male lead; he is sweet and strong and communicative, and I wanted to hug him at all times. But Piper just has so much personality! I normally wouldn’t love a spoiled, rich-girl Instagram star, but I loved that Piper grows without changing the fundamental person that she is. It’s okay to like shopping and makeup and manicures, after all. And even more, I loved that Brendan doesn’t want her to change. He just wants to be enough for her. Ugh, I just loved the hell out of these two, and I also can’t wait to read Hannah and Fox’s story!

“First of all, you don’t have to be tough. Not all the time. I don’t know who decided my perfect, kind, sweet, incredible girlfriend needed to fit some goddam mold, but you don’t. You just be Piper, okay? She’s who I’m in love with.”
