Ack. I'm horrified. Not by this book, but by the fact that number 4 in the Body Finder series isn't out yet. I love the series that much. And this one left me wanting more - go read them. :)

It took me a couple of days to get into this book but once I did I couldn't stop. The plot was amazing and kept me wanting to know what would happen next, and the ending...talk about frustrating!

Violet has an unusual skill which is she senses dead bodies and the imprint on the killer. She is now working with others who have unusual skills also. Right now they are looking for a killer known as the collector. He is abducting college age girls, imprisoning them and after killing them dress them u like they are going on a date. Violet is trying to balance her normal high life, her home life and using her skill to bring killers to justice. There are different views into her complex life. Her parents are not on board with her job since she is danger daily. Her boyfriend is very supportive but Violet feels he is missing out on the fun of high school. And Violet is not sure if she wants to use her gift. I gave this book 4 stars since I read it in less than 24 hrs. The reason it doesnt get 5 is my own pet peeves.

The Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting is one of my favourite YA series of recent years. I really just love the mixture of crime solving and romance, especially as we are usually given brief insights into the mind of the killer which are interspersed into the narrative. I really do love Violet and her relationship with her family and especially her newly formed relationship with best friend, Jay.

I thought this move towards working with the FBI would add an interesting twist into the series, and it has. The series has introduced us to some very interesting new characters with different abilities, though I felt like this book focused a bit more than I'd like on Rafe, who clearly has feelings for Violet. Together with Jay being significantly less of a presence in The Last Echo, I found myself enjoying the book just a teensy bit less.

Even so, The Last Echo is a wonderful read. Violet is trying her best to solve this latest crime involving a serial killer in the area, and Violet must just be his latest target. I thought this book was deliciously creepy with a great mystery to solve. I still Violet as a character, the weight of her ability is a fair bit heavier in this book, and my heart went out to her.

Another great installment in a series that I love! These books never fail to be extremely creepy, seriously the killer's perspective gives me the chills, not in a good way obviously. That just goes to show how good Derting is at writing from that perspective. Poor Violet manages to get herself into trouble and gets hurt quite a bit in this book and she should work on trying to avoid that, lol! I liked getting to know more about the rest of the team and what they can do. It was also nice to see Violet try to save herself and kick a little butt. There were also some great surprises in this book that I didn't necessarily see coming. The last couple of scenes were crazy and I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book.

A lot was thrown at Violet in this book and she continues to grow stronger, although she doesn't always make the best decisions. I like that she tries to do what's right and she also is working on better protecting herself. I also love that her family is so protective for her, especially since she doesn't always do the best job of looking after herself. I missed Jay a little in this book, he was hardly even in it. Although the scenes he did have just made me love him more, he is so adorable! I am definitely interested to learn more about Krystal, Gemma, & Sam becasue they seem like they could be really interesting characters. Sara has continued to be full of surprises too and I loved getting to know her better. Getting to know Rafe a little better was interesting as well becasue he is so standoffish. His power is pretty cool too and I really liked getting to see it in action. Rafe tends to be too much of a jerk for me to like him. I understand his situation, but it is still hard to like him with his crappy attitude.

I am 100% Team Jay and I am going to be so mad if this becomes a love triangle! Rafe has already made things tough and Violet doesn't even really know what is going on. I seriously adore Jay, so this has me so mad. There was one scene in particular with Rafe that I was not happy about. I guess I will have to wait for the next book to see what happens, but I hate waiting :(

this review won't be super long because all i want to say is that i enjoyed this book a bit more than the last book. I like the relationship between Violet and Rafe, i loved the background information we finally got on Rafe and the rest of the crew. I still want to know more about Krystal and Sam (sam is barely mentioned in the book which i'm a bit sad about him bc we know he's part of the team, but it feels like he's not due to the fact we know little to nothing about him). I want to see how Violet assimilates back into high school especially after the traumatic experiences in this book, and i'm excited to see how the little plot twist presented at the book will pan out

Oh, Kimberly Derting you own my heart. And I pledge to read anything that you ever write.

THE END

Ok, maybe not the end, but it’s true. I absolutely love every single thing that I read by Mrs. Derting and The Last Echo was no different. I have no idea why it too me so long to read this book. The Body Finder series is my of my top favs. but for some reason I just never picked it up. I think it is in part because I am always fearful that one of my top series will let me down. That didn’t happen, and I feel like a fool for ever doubting Kimberly.

Violet’s life seems to be going good. She has a great, understanding boyfriend, loving parents, and she’s finally able to use her gift with the team that she has become apart of. But of course a book wouldn’t be good if it was just rainbows and sunshine. Violet is still struggling with imprints, she’s scared that Rafe might has more feelings than just the friendly kind, and soon she is thrust straight back into danger.

Kimberly has created another great edition to an already phenomenal series. Full of danger, mystery, extreme creepiness (I still refuse to read these books at night), and a little dash of romance. If you haven’t read this series then we can’t be friends.

Alright, pretty well over this series. Only 1 book left so I will finish it but honestly...not impressed. The only decent parts where the creepy party shared my our mysterious "friend" that we sometimes get after each chapter. Real sicko this time, enough it gave me the crawlies! But all Violets parts bored me. The story is was too predictable. Even the shocker ending was an "I told you so" moment. She is way to predictable and a rather flat personality. Like, everyone around her has way more!

Much better than #2, but not enough Jay time
