Definitely the best self-help book I’ve read, though that’s not saying much. The idea of shame being the root of many people’s unhappiness is a compelling one, and the author addresses how to recognise it and learn to overcome it. Did feel like it only works for upper middle class people. Also, the section of faith was frustratingly vague on how this might be achieved if you’re not naturally a believer

This is my third Brene Brown book and I just continue to fall more and more in love with her writing and research with every new book I consume. Her writing has opened my perspective and spoken straight to my fear and anxiety and shame. I highly recommend any and all of her books to everyone. This is my second book by her that I listened to on Libby as an audiobook and I really enjoy hearing her voice reading, it adds a lot of depth for me. The very beginning of The Gifts of Imperfection repeated a lot of what I had heard in Daring Greatly but it later delved into and expanded on more topics that weren't the focus in Daring Greatly. I loved the 10 goalposts and the practical application that she offers in this particular book. If I were to recommend any particular order to read Brene's books in, I would start with the Gifts of Imperfection and then read Daring Greatly. I truly think they build excellently on each other but can also be read completely individually.

A book I want to recommend to all of my friends. A book full of moments that are eye opening. Without realizing that our quest for a fulfilling life may actually be what's stopping us from succeeding because we are afraid of failure and being vulnerable.

Amazing!! I can’t suggest this enough if you deal with perfectionism or people pleasing. It was wonderful! I think I might read it again in a few months. Magic.
