A great message of understanding that the world is not perfect and neither are we. It's a simple message but society has many of us thinking that we need to do it all and make it all nice. Stop exhausting yourself and remember to live the gift of this life you have right now.

I'm not sure if I'd ever be able to give this type of book 5 stars, but that may say more about me than any author. It was a helpful read and had many extremely enlightening passages. As was my issue with the last book, I'd really enjoy more concrete examples of what I can actually DO to meet the guide posts. Such as, if I am encountered with a person shaming me or going against my goal of "whole heartedness," what are some constructive things I can say to diffuse the situation? Had that been a bigger part of the work, I'd have been blown away.

Once again Brené Brown is incredible I absolutely believe that her writing can change you life if you let it. This particular book is one of her earlier works, though ironically is is one of the last books of hers I read which is a bit of a shame. I really think The Gifts of Imperfection is the perfect introduction to what Brené Brown has to say. Having read almost off of her other works first made it feel a little repetitive. Absolutely still worth the read, especially considering how quick it was, but maybe not my favorite of everything she has written.

Such an insightful “self-help” book. It skips all the fluff and cliches that many self-help books indulge in these days. Brene dives deep into her own actual research with many many sources to show the common experience in living wholeheartedly. She teaches how to embrace the ugly (shame, self-doubt, anxiety, etc.) in order to take away their power. I loved her personal anecdotes that are both enlightening and engaging. Her personality shines through the pages and is easy to connect to. I would definitely recommend, it was a very therapeutic read!

This is a must read! It’s so insightful, helpful, comforting, educational… everything I want in a “self help book”. And yet it’s not really self help. It’s not giving advice or stating that your life will be better if you do xyz. It’s a book on wholehearted living and what’s really important in life. 100% recommend.

I struggled to read this. I don't know if it was her voice, or if I just couldn't follow. There were for sure some nuggets of truth in it that I loved, but it took me a FAT minute to get it done.
