The tenth-anniversary edition had good tools.

My therapist recommended this book to me, and I can honestly say that it really resonated with me. I felt throughout a majority of this book that Brené was talking to me as if she knew me as a close friend. she writes in a way that's very easy to digest and is very personable. The only negative aspect of it, for me, is that it can get a little to religious at times. I am currently not religious, but I eventually want to explore if religion is "for me", so maybe that aspect will resonate a little better with me in the future. Regardless of religious aspects sprinkled in the book, Brené's advice and strategies that she describes in this book are very doable and I will be doing my best to employ them in my life. Definitely worth the read, especially if you are struggling with self-worth and if you don't feel like you're living life to the fullest.

Main points: Courage, compassion, and connection are the gifts of imperfection.
Courage isn't big heroic actions, it's being open and vulnerable with others.
Compassion means accepting yourself, making boundaries, and sitting in the pain or joy of whatever others are experiencing WITH THEM.
Connection is being seen, heard, and valued.
Comparison = Conformity + Competition
