ARC Review: Thank you to Emma Slate for sending me a copy to read and review

Huckleberry Hill was one of those spicy, wholesome books. The banter between not only Hadley and her family, but Hadley and her friends was so good. Muddy really stole the show.

Hadley is just coming off a break up with her Fiancé, and she returns home to Idaho from New York. She meets the new wrangler on the ranch her first night home. No matter how hard she tried she couldn’t resist his charm.

Declan: former team roper on the rodeo circuit, wrangler, biker, absolutely smitten by Hadley. I love how Hadley can talk him into anything including letting her pet goat, Tempest sleep In bed with them. I love how Declan sees her for who she is and he doesn’t waver or see her as broken in any way.

Hadley goes back to her family's ranch following a rough breakup and trying to decide what she wants to do with her life. Go back to New York with her sister and friends or move back to the ranch permanently.

She stumbles over the new wrangler, Declan, on her first night home, and the sparks fly. Add in a meddling grandmother and a baby goat, and Hadley is more confused than ever about what she wants to do.

The banter between Hadley and Declan will have you giggling as they navigate, figuring out what their relationship is. If you keep your eyes open, you might just spot a cameo of some of the characters from the Tarnished Angel's series.

I've been in a book slump for weeks and as soon as I picked this book up I knew I would fly through it! I've absolutely loved this book and i can't wait for book 2! This was absolute perfection and I want more!

Hadley is back home to heal after her fiancé left her when he found out she couldn't have children, the last thing Hadley needs is a rugged biker cowboy to catch her. Declan falls for Hadley, literally and figuratively, straight away, she's what he never knew he needed and he just might try and win her round.

I loved the development of their relationship and how easy it seemed to flow, the only thing missing for me was that it wasn't dual pov, but that's just me being greedy and wanting into Declan's head! This book is definitely worth a read and I'm so excited for this series to continue! Hopefully not a long wait!

This is a sweet and spicy, age gap, low angst, small town romance with a surprise pregnancy.

Hadley is running home from New York, fresh off a broken engagement and struggling with some devastating news. She wants home comforts, her dad and her feisty gran to help her heal. What she doesn't want, or tries to tell herself she doesn't, is the older, rugged and handsome wrangler that's staying in the cabin on her family ranch.
(Their meet cute is one of my faves)

Declan falls for Hadley instantly. He is a man who knows what he wants and is not afraid to go for it. He also does everything he can to make Hadley happy and show her they should be together.

It's a fun, insta love read that is full of flirting and banter. Declan and Hadley bounce so well off each other. We also get to meet Hadley's twin sister and friends who are still in New York, so I hope they each get their own book too.

Synopsis: After breaking up with her fiancé, Hadley retreats to her family’s ranch in Huckleberry Hill to heal. There she meets the ruggedly charming new wrangler, Declan, making things a little more complicated. Sparks fly between them, and though Hadley insists she’s sworn off romance, especially after confiding in her twin sister, Salem, that she can’t have children, Declan’s easy smile and warm heart begin to wear down her walls. Their flirty banter quickly deepens into something much more as late night talks turn into stolen kisses, and before long, a passionate, secret affair. Declan is all in on a relationship, cooking for her, making her laugh, and showing up in every way that counts. Hadley wants to protect her heart, and him too, specifically from her father, who would fire Declan on the spot if he found out. But secrets don’t keep long in small towns. When her father discovers the truth, his temper ignites, but eventually accepts their relationship. A sudden flood threatens the ranch, forcing everyone to pull together. In the chaos, Hadley is swept into the rising waters, only to be pulled to safety by Declan. At the hospital, the unthinkable happens when Hadley learns she is pregnant. Despite the odds, the news brings pure joy. Together, Hadley and Declan decide to build a future, and a family together in the only place that’s ever truly felt like home: Huckleberry Hill.

Thoughts: This book was so good, and had many notable swoonworthy moments. It’s hard to even pick a favorite, and Declan offers up any kind of swoon you’re looking for from sexy to jealous and possessive, to sweet and emotional. He was such a refreshing hero because of his quick wit, emotional maturity, and also alpha like traits too. I definitely found myself envious of Hadley at times. I can relate to Hadley’s cautious nature, and understand her reluctance to enter into another relationship so soon after her breakup. I’m glad Declan was able to break down her walls because they ended up being perfect for each other. I really enjoyed the simple scenes where they just comfortably chatted about life. Hadley did what was best for her by leaving New York and consequently her best friends, but I think she arguably gained the best friend and lover she’ll ever have by being with Declan. Her soul unquestionably seems at peace in Huckleberry Hill with her family and Declan. I’m really intrigued by the rest of Hadley’s friends in New York, and how they might end up in Huckleberry Hill too, especially her sister Salem. She has a mysterious air about her, and seems like someone who needs a lot of healing, perhaps back home with her family as well. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Huckleberry Hill by Emma Slate.

There is a lot to like about this book. It’s an easy to read, small town romance which is super cute with sweet vibes. The romance between the two characters is quite easy without too much tension and angst. I tend to like my stories with a little more tension and drama but I did enjoy the relaxed vibes - it would have been great to read on a beach somewhere while drinking cocktails.

Declan was the MMC was my favourite character. Overall nice guy with good levels of banter. Also loved Hadley the FMCs, Nan was awesome. Super meddling, really funny and the sort of Nan who causes trouble.
