I really liked the visual imagery in this book. It was so appealing and pulled me right into the story.
Bold bright colors in geometric patterns tell a story from the Pueblo people. When a boy discovers that his father is the Lord of the Sun, he tries to find a way to reach him to ask for his wisdom. Arrow Maker fits the boy into a bow and shoots him into the sun. The Lord of the Sun asks the boy to complete three challenges and once they are completed, he sends the boy back to Earth with his wisdom. The illustrations here are intense and really hold children's interest.

Finally following up. I listened to it, it was pretty good. It had music!
I like the Anansi character, but prefer other re-tellings.
Newbery Honor picture book retelling an Anansi story. The actual story was fine, though I was hoping for something longer and deeper. But the artwork was pretty disappointing for a Caldecott Honor. And the ending was not compelling.
