I don't know if I'm smart enough to understand this but nevertheless, I enjoyed myself while reading this small collection of Montaigne's essays. My favourite was definitely 'To philosophise is to learn how to die' (great title as well)

Very boring.

Seneca's "on the shortness of life" touches on similar subjects and it’s way better, in my opinion.

Also, this quote didn’t sit well with me: "Those who hide women behind a mask of make-up do less harm, since it is not much of a loss not to see them as they are by nature."

Montaigne uses his essays as a medium to display his knowledge of other languages and show that he’s well-read. He brings up interesting ideas.
