There wasn't a whole lot of plot - Nick and Charlie are together, but Charlie has one year of school left and Nick is off to university, Charlie worries about whether their relationship will survive long-distance - but to be honest, there didn't need to be (although it would have been nice!)
The main message I took from Nick and Charlie was that a romantic relationship doesn't always need to be full of excitement and drama to be worthwhile. Sure, some couples might enjoy going skydiving or bungee jumping, but that couple who stay home and watch TV or browse the Internet is just as valid. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.
Also, I loved Nick and Charlie's
A lovely, heartwarming read.

Nick and Charlie have always been Nick and Charlie, they've been a united front since they first started dating. It seems unheard of that they'd ever not be together, but as Nick's graduation looms and his move to university begins to cause a wedge between him and Charlie, their relationship faces it's first real hurdle.
This continues my Oseman read for 2023! I've been itching to listen to more of the audiobooks for the Heartstopper universe since This Winter and this one didn't disappoint. I think the voiceover artists in this are phenomenal and really feel like the characters. There's something that draws me in about the way the books are recorded that make me feel like I'm listening to a movie or tv show in the background, not a book.
I only really docked a star for this one because the miscommunication trope remains to be my least favorite thing. Yes, these two boys are teenagers and this is their first "big" fight, but it still felt a little unrealistic for them to go so long during the "break-up" period in this. Still, I really do adore the characters in this world and would recommend the audio to anyone looking for a short listen!
