Took too long to get invested in, was complicated to follow at times and at some points, had missing punctuation? Finished just because i wanted to see if it got better, but no
Really enjoyed this but it was very confusing for a while.

This book was very interesting.
The plot itself wasn't anything special, but the world was very different from anything I've ever read. The main character and her multiple "bone ghosts" / personalities was confusing off the start. You are kind of just thrown into this world with zero buffering explanation about the psychics or mind abilities that people have. You just know some messed up things happened, there was a war, a lot of Princes that are messed up in the head, and a mistress who has alot of scientific background and personalities.
My biggest qualm against this series was the lack of information and HOW the information was introduced. Most of the book was spend just explaining why the main character was the way she was and wasn't even to really further the plot. It more gave us flashbacks here and there through experiences in the story to give us a glimpse of that past that lead up to this. WHICH WAS VERY INTERESTING, but with the book only being 400ish pages it felt like very little of the book was actually spent on the plot.
The last 100 pages ? 10/10 loved it. Loved the conclusion. Didn't see it coming and it surprised me. I loved the difference in characters and how they communicated. I loved the politics. It was woven in without being so overbearing and boring. It flowed nicely and worked well with the story.
The random edition of a character being immortal ? Literally made no sense with the only other powers being mind based, but at that point whatever. Throw in the plot device I don't mind. This book could have benefited a lot from more pages. It just felt like way too much going on in way to little of pages.

Maybe it’s just me, but so much of this book was unnecessary.
As a typical “who done it”, it wasn’t a surprise.
If you’re here for the vibes and not much else, this book would be for you.
If you’re familiar with fantasy, this books probably won’t be for you, and it’s just not that great.

The book was a fascinating idea and the protagonists where pivotal to my engagement and interest in the entire story. However, I felt that there was something missing from tying the entire story, characters, and plot together. I felt that I was continuously behind and didn't quite know what was happening and by the end of the story, I still don't feel like they answered enough of the questions. One main issue that I did have was that there was a lot of characters and some of them were introduced almost as if they were going to be pivotal to the story. But then would disappear the majority of the book. It just seemed like the author had a lot of ideas but didn't know how to tie it all in a neat bow.
