Beautifully written but painfully dull. I never got enough backstory for things to really make any sense which was made so much worse toward the end when characters literally started merging or being "born anew" at the 80% mark . The second I thought I was getting a firm grasp on what was going on, I was proven incorrect. Overall, a fine experience, but maybe not enjoyable.

I enjoyed this book and would reread it again. There certainly were times I felt a bit confused, but by the end everything was explained. I liked the political intrigue, the exploration of being a woman and a political prisoner. Ultimately, most of the book was very engaging to read.
My biggest issue was thatthe ending felt a bit too clean. Everyone that you want to live does, everything turns out well for the characters. This felt like there were no real consequences with their lives. The ending felt too neat. Also I didn't like the implications of romance between the count and charm, most likely because it seemed like Charm has had enough of men and just needs a break lol.
My biggest issue was that
