Absolutely recommend this duology. Sometimes the second book in a set can fall flat, but this one shone. Kristen did a really great job of managing the conflicted relationship in a way that had tension, longing, but also reasonable reasons for not just coming together.

This book had me kicking my feet in excitement and anticipation of Rune and Gideons next interaction.
Run is smart, kind and loving, and is constantly a few steps ahead of the game, without having to resort to the stabby broody archtype of FMCs, while Gideon is that tortured soul of a man who is portrayed so perfectly well.
I couldn't put this book down and devoured it in under two days, there were so many twists and turns that kept me at the edge of my seat.
Honestly, I am NOT OK at the ending and am truly sad to have finished this duology and this couple behind.
