I loved Nico and August. This book is my favorite of the series so far. It's because of how different August and Nico were. August was the practical, "follow all the rules" kind of guy, and Nico was not. There wasn't an "adventure" that Nico wouldn't do. It's why it was so fun, watching the two of them, under false pretenses because of the lies August had told, start to fall in love and see the good in each other.

This was a fun cute read. Based on the summary, I didn't realize this was going to be a fake relationship book. Now I like the fake relationship trope so it's no biggie, but I was a little bit hoping that they were just in a secret relationship for a while before the seizure and everything went down. But I did enjoy this read. It was fun watching Nico and August fall in love while also pretending to be in love. I love their opposite personalities too.

I really love Brigham Vaughn's hockey/midwest universe and every book that is added gets better.

I was looking forward to Nico's story after Dustin and Charlie's book and I was definitely not disappointed.

Nico and August are complete opposites but somehow they really work well together. Loved the fake relationship and how Nico reacts

This is one of the most unique hockey romances I've ever read. Think of the movie while you were sleeping but make it a MM romance between an NHL player who when he gets injured during a game and the referee he loves to antagonize and previous one-time hook-up. I thought the medical side of the story was interesting to read. I love a mild hurt/comfort story, and I thought that the way August supports Nico in his recovery was so tender and enjoyed seeing how Nico was trying to help August salvage his career when their fake engagement gets leaked.

Also, I had no idea the book was almost 600 pages until writing this review. I feel like the story was really well paced and didn't feel that long/drag in any places.

August & Nico have the perfect balance between them. Nico’s pure sunshine, even through the challenges he faces here, & August is a calm steady presence that blossoms under that sunshine. They bond quickly due to circumstances but it’s a deep genuine love they grow for each other. I liked the emphasis that Nico’s a good person when he could come off as arrogant due to his natural talents and upper class upbringing. But he always knows how lucky he is, his bonding moment with Charlie was a fantastic moment as well. August made me want to give him a big hug because he’s so hard on himself at times. Thankfully he has Nico to remind him how wonderful he is!
