This story is one that was on the shelf for a minute, but Im so glad I finally pulled it to read it. It hits close to home, and it was a beautiful display of parental love by the family they've created and built. Absolutely love love love!

An incredible and touching memoir in graphic novel format.
I like the options of graphic memoirs (March, Persepolis, etc.) for my students. I think it makes the nonfiction accessible but also layered. There are so many ways to discuss color, depth, expressions, etc. This memoir focuses on some tough questions about addiction and family relationships.
*Side note: I actually read it last week and forgot to update my GoodReads status.

This novel shows life -- the hard, cruddy parts that can wreck you or help you grow. Thankfully in this case it helped him grow.
