Debut novel

I really liked the rodeo premise

This was a cutesy romance full of bull riding & damaged men, my favorite!

Although the beginning was a bit slow, the burn was sloooowwww burning, the book picked up quite quickly. I do wish that there wasn’t an instant attraction & that the annoyance to lovers was drawn out more, i just live for good banter.

All things considered, this was a fun read. It had depth, laughs, cries, romance & spice.

Some of the stuff Colter said though did make me cringe, although i believe that was the point.

This is the perfect book to begin a series.

I am calling it right now, it’s Mikey & isa ;)

Also, can i vouge for a prequel about Colter & his ex??? I need to know more about that story? A friends to lovers to enemies ?? Could we get that?

Thank you so much H.K. green for blessing me with another cowboy romance series to look forward to, a great debut novel!

All opinions are my own

i was blessed to be able to read this early before release day and absolutely 10 out of 10. 5 stars. i have always loved the lifestyle my husband lived and that we continue to live after meeting. it is not glorious like everyone thinks it is. it has its ups and downs, and hardships. and H.K. Green depicts it so well! i love the chemistry of the two MC’s, and i cannot wait for more!

Cute story. I expected a bit more romance, but I wasn’t disappointed at all with what we did get. I also kind of liked how the writing explained the different aspects of rodeo, etc. Overall it was a good debut from this author!

SYNOPSIS:

Ellison hasnt gone to the rodeo in 15 years because of the loss of her dad: a steer wrestler who’s life ended tragically during his rodeo event. She only goes on the anniversary of his death with her mom as support, but no other time. On the night before the anniversary, her best friend invited her out, where she runs into Colter. She’s a total bitch to him, and leaves. Colter however, wants to see her again. The next day at the rodeo, she’s there with her mom when Colter and his roping partner compete. She can’t believe it, and now knows she did the right thing by being a bitch because she doesn’t want to get into a relationship with someone who rodeo’s. But Colter finds her walking around and convinces her to meet him for coffee the next day. She reluctantly goes, and has a good time. He gives her his number and she texts him the next day. They begin to hang out and Ellison actually opens up to him about her dad’s passing. By the time the rodeo comes to a close, Ellison doesn’t want Colter to leave because she thinks he’ll forget about her. He has his own issues too, but he promises her he wants her and to keep contact. They do keep in contact, and eventually Colter buys her a plane ticket for her to visit him in Montana. She goes and here is where their relationship is taken to official levels. Before she’s set to leave, Colter gets injured, and she ends up staying extra weeks to help him. They both realize they love each other during these weeks. Towards the end, we see a colter back in the saddle at rodeo’s, and we see him and Reid go to the NFR and win the average point championship. The epilogue shows Ellison moving to Montana with Colt and him asking permission to marry her.

I am grieving... This book was a masterpiece from start to finish and I can't believe I am done with Colter and Ellison's story.

We begin with a Rodeo 101 for readers who may be unfamiliar with the terminology in the rodeo world. The accuracy and depth to the rodeo world in this book is so refreshing to see in the cowboy romance genre!

Ellison is the young daughter of rodeo parents, Levi and Hanna Merritt, when a Lane Frost-esque tragedy strikes. She turns away from the rodeo world with no desire to return. This all changes when she runs into Colter Carson, literally.

Colter Carson is the header of a top team roper pair with Reid Lawson. We follow his story as a recovering alcoholic and heartbroken cowboy due to a broken engagement.

In the time when they needed someone most, they found each other and began healing. You will NOT regret reading this book, but you WILL regret finishing it because I miss them already! Cannot wait for an addition to the Silver Creek series!!

I really love how grief is depicted in this book. Both Ellison and Colter are experiencing grief from two extremely different events at different times in their lives, but both result in a loss that’s significant to them. It was a wonderful journey to see them heal not only because of each other but because their love for rodeo and a portion of their life returns in a new way.

I grew up doing 4-H and everything that involves, so I was always aware of rodeo but never super familiar with it. It was fun to learn more about the different events and finally put a name to things I would watch randomly growing up. I will never totally understand every event, but I feel like I have a better understanding of what goes into several of them now.

Ellison is a badass. She’s so unapologetically herself and she doesn’t try to mold herself to the conventions of how a woman “should” act. She speaks her mind and is unafraid to be honest and blunt, and I love that. While other books I’ve read certainly have FMCs that are similar, Ellison took it to a new level I’d love to keep reading about.

I love rodeos and cowboy romances and this had everything I could want. I love Colter and Ellison. The way they were both there for each other and they way they knew what each other needed was everything. I hope to see of them in the future. HK also want to say I need a Reid story AND a Mikey story.

HK this was a great debut novel and I cant wait to see where your writing takes us.

4.5!!!

Comparable to the Rebel Blue Ranch series by Lyla Sage

The way the author handled the grief in this book so well. My heart hurt for Ellison, but Colter came in and helped fill the void. Colter and Ellison were made for each other! Their story was so sweet, pure, and overall fun! Definitely a slow burn, but so worth it!! Colter’s past trauma shaped him into such a good man (if only men like him existed in real life lol). The only thing I wish was different was needing more! I felt some things could have been explored more, needing more depth to certain scenes. Other than that it was a great debut book!!
