This was a great read! I really enjoy cowboy/rodeo romances and this one delivered such a beautiful story. I just loved Ellison and Colter. The author did a great job with this debut and I can't wait to read the next one.
I received an arc and this review is my own.

Well, I believe this is the first cowboy romance I've read, and I discovered I really like it.
This book shows us how two people, who lost themselfs with grief in the past, start to crawl their way out of it and trully begin to live again.
Both characters had traumatic events in their pasts, so they build very big walls to protect themselfs. After a bumping meet-cute, his instant atraction is undeniable, and they end up breaking each other walls slowly, with friendship and then love. We can see their relationship grow, and also them aswell.
We can experience a bit of rodeo life, and get to know a little more about it while enjoying their romance.
I liked their banter, and I loved how devoted he was to her after deciding he was all in and chasing her...
“If I’m a spark, then you’re the blaze that keeps me feeling alive. You fuel my fire.”
“I’m willing to be whatever you want us to be. I’ve been yours for a while now, trust me. I’m leaving it up to you whether you want to be mine.”
I'll be surely expecting what's next in this world!
The Pieces We’ve Lost by @authorhkgreen is such a beautifully written book that pulled at my heartstrings in such a good way. This book covers some heavy topics, it’s raw and real. I enjoyed getting to watch Ellison and Colter overcome their traumas from the past and thrive. I especially loved the banter between these two! I highly recommend adding this book to your tbr. I laughed, smiled, and even teared up at times. TPWL was my first cowboy romance read and I can say I’m officially hooked!
Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to read your debut and congratulations!

ARC Review for The Pieces We've Lost by H.K Green 🤠
I think I've said it so many times already but small-town/cowboy romances are my catnip and H.K Green made me love it even more with this book. She wrote a beautiful love story about finding your way back to something you love and healing together on the way there. It always gets to me so much when someone writes like this. I loved the way Hali helped all of us readers understand how the ranching and western lifestyle works and what goes on behind the scenes. It's truly refreshing to see an author doing this and not just skipping over it.
I loved how he falls first but she falls harder for him.
And the way she shows up for him when he feels bad, it's beautiful to witness their growth together.
A summary of the book:
Colter & Ellison meet for the first time at a bar. He's everything she doesn't want. He's a participant in the rodeo and she's trying for years to not get involved with the sport at all after a very traumatic accident she witnessed when she was a young kid. He keeps trying to find his way into her heart and when he finds it, they just click.
If you love:
- Cowboy/Rodeos
- Black cat/ Golden retriever 🖤💛
- Open door spice
- Healing together after traumas in their lives.
- NO third-act break-up! 💕
- Feeling all the feels and cry a little.
This is the book for you 🩵

Arc Review:
Such a sweet read that does touch on some heavy topics. I loved getting to know Ellison and Colter and the life of rodeo stars! This book had so much more insight into what goes on during rodeos and you truly get the feeling that you are right there in the arena watching. Ellison and Colter were characters who both have experienced loss in the past but they start to heal once they become friends and then lovers. These two helped the other heal while also both becoming better versions of themselves!
Thank you to H.K. Green for trusting me with her book and please go check it out!

The Pieces We've Lost (The Road & The Rodeo Book 1)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
“Hey Sparks.”
"Hey Blaze."
“What are you doing to me?" she whispered.
"Whatever it takes to make you mine," I murmered back.
"I'm already yours."

This was a job well-done on a debut novel by H.K. Green! I really loved the full inclusion of the cowboy/rodeo lifestyle. I feel like this is one of the more comprehensive inclusions of it that I've seen a book. I also really enjoyed the premise of the plot and both the main characters, Ellison and Colter.
These two characters and the evolution of their relationship was literally so cute 😍. The both of them taking care of each other as friends before they were together had me swooning. Of course, it only got better as their relationship developed.
Ellison was a rough and tough cowgirl and daughter of a former rodeo star, who had trouble letting people in. Colter was the humble cowboy who was the up and coming star of the rodeo. Can I say, I absolutely adored Colter! He was one of the most sincere, sweetest MC's there is, but don't let that fool you. He was spicy, too 🥵. If you like a slow-burn, this book is for you 😉.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I had the opportunity to beta read this book and let me tell you I can't even begin to say what an honor it's been to watch this book go from the beginning stages to this amazing piece of work. I am speechless at the emotion behind the writing in this book.
Colton and Ellison were such amazing, complex characters. Ellison's character development was one of my favorite parts of this story. She started as this black cat FMC who wanted nothing to do with rodeo, cowboys, and the life that comes with it. And she became this strong, independent woman who faced her fears and dealt with her insecurities and anxiety.
The slow burn was perfection in this book, and I loved their relationship together. Colter was a man made to take care of Ellison. He was so patient with her, didn't rush her, and took his time showing her that he could be the man she needed.
The most amazing cowboy romance with a very real plot line.
