3 couples, a 2 person friend group and a few singles converge on a luxurious, old Inn in upstate NY, as a snow storm develops in their area. There are multiple POV's from people in varying states of conflict.
The morning after night one, the power is out and a woman's scream awakens them early. A dead body awaits them at the foot of the stairs on the first floor. It seems accidental, until a criminal defense attorney guest suggests it might not be. From there, of course, everyone begins to eye everyone else with suspicion.
The part of this book that bothered me the most was the description of it being pitch black outside at night but with a hefty amount of accumulated snow. Even with clouds, I have never seen it pitch black out when snow covers everything. Maybe this is related to me being from the South? We get snow, but it is never pitch black with snow on the ground. It is oddly light out.
All in all, a fast paced, trapped in a location, one by one whodunit. I enjoyed this book and rated it 3.5/5 stars.

Reminded me a lot of ‘And Then There Were None’ but wasn’t quite as captivating…

This book was like watching a murder mystery party, set in a secluded B&B during a winter storm. I usually am pretty good, but didn’t figure this one out before the end!

An interesting character study let down by tbe ending where I was expecting more of a twist. A fun background read however
Takes a while for the story to get going and start being interesting.
This whole book I had no idea who it was, huge plot twist at the end or maybe it’s just a good thing I’m not a detective and I suck at picking up on hints. The whole book I just kept wanting to know who it was and had a hard timing wanting to stop reading!
The guest are trapped by snow and ice and they’re dying one by one! Either someone is here they are aware of or one of them is a killer. This book moves really quickly and keeps you guessing and entertained the whole way through. I guessed the killer but not the motives so I still take that as a win! Shari Lapena is fast becoming one of my favorite authors!
