I would say 3, maybe 3.5 stars. I read this one because I usually LOVE Lapena's books but this one. I dunno. It starts off with a strong Agatha Christie feel, all these people have come to a hotel in the middle of the storm. I'm not even going to TRY and name everyone because there is so many characters. That was one of the things at the beginning that was difficult to keep track of. A few couples, a pair of friends, a man (lawyer), a woman (writer) and the two who run the hotel. They tell everyone they are short staffed because of the snow storm. The next morning, a woman has dead. She fell down the stairs but there is blood on a stair like her head was smashed in. And wouldn't you know it, the power is out. So begins a day where they are trying to figure out who the murderer is. They find a room (not given to anyone) that looks like someone was staying in it. Next, the woman writer is found murdered. Next, one of the friends explains that she was kept hostage while overseas as a reporter then runs out into the storm. When they go to find her, one of the guys (the son) who runs the hotel is found murdered. Everyone is freaking out so they start accusing each other and the next morning one guy is dead. WTF. The police finally come and start asking questions but they find the earring of one of the girls under a body so they arrest her. She conveys she innocent but we found out that when she was younger, she was in a group home and the first girl who died saw her push someone off a roof and threatened to tell the others so she killed her. She found a note saying someone saw what she did so she just starts killing people. She didn't kill the last guy though. That was the wife, because he was cheating on her and she thinks that she'll get away with it since the girl can't go "well I didn't kill HIM" without giving herself away.
There was plenty of drama and whodunnit but I felt the ending was almost rushed and didn't give a good, clean resolution to the thrilling build the book created.

I took this out from my library but soon requested the audiobook when I saw there were multiple POVs in every chapter. Well, joke's on me, because the audiobook only had one narrator. The synopsis reminded me of NO EXIT by Taylor Adams. Unfortunately, the story itself fell flat for me. Due to the number of points of view in this I found it difficult to connect to any of the characters. This meant that I struggled to root for any of them and this led to a lack of investment in the story. I still think this audiobook could have benefitted from multiple narrators and maybe that would have changed my opinion on this.

Ten people, have headed to the isolated Mitchell's Inn, finding themselves snowed in with the owner and his son. Aside from the people travelling together, no one knows who the others are. So when one of the guests is found dead on their first morning, no one knows who to trust or who to believe. But with the power off, and another guest found dead, everyone starts to panic. And that's when things start to become dangerous.
Okay, so I've had a few books from this author sat on my shelf for years, and I've never read one. This was my first, but how the hell did I not pick it up before now? This was such a great read. It brought together some of the best parts of a thriller; an isolated setting, strangers trapped together, murder, multiple suspects, and a tense storyline.
I can't wait to read more from this author.
