I loved this book! I thought it was very similar to Harry Potter, but this book had more suspense than Harry Potter. It was fascinating to learn about the elf world with Sofie, and I can't wait to read the second book.

If you like Harry Potter, you will like this story...

At first, I thought the book was slow and pretty boring. I was initially going to give this book a 2 star, but then towards the ending it got interesting! (Which, side note, I am convinced that books in a series do this as a marketing gig for you to buy the second book) This, as you noticed, was enough to give it another star
While the plotline of the story was interesting, this story did a good job in world building and character writing. All of the characters were unique which I adore! (Even if I wanted to strangle some of the characters) and the world building was similar to Percy Jackson in a way, where there is this separate area away from ordinary humans.
Speaking of, it has a magical school which makes the book similar to Harry Potter, especially since one of the teachers was suspiciously like Professor Snape.

However, I just found the beginning of the book too slow, and I always was checking when the chapter would end. Which is never usually s good sign for me, but that changed TOWARDS THE END OF THE DARN BOOK

Would I recommend it? Maybe, maybe not. Would I read it again? Not in like...20 years but I don't think it wasted my time all that much.

I think this book is awesome. If Shannon Messenger wrote another series, I would read it.

At first I was very unsure about this series but since I’ve read things like the hunger games series, lots of Percy Jackson and keeper of the lost cities popped up in my Pinterest. So I was like you know what I’ll give it a try! Even though this book may be Y/A in my opinion anyone would enjoy it!
I like how there was lots of change from her time in the human world to the lost cities. It’s where she belongs and I’m so happy fitz found her!
