** يؤضح ماريو بارغاس يوسا أن السرية مهمة جدا في تلك المشاريع الكبرى لأي مؤسسة كبرى

Although I did like and appreciate it, I didn’t exactly enjoy it. I had fun with the writing and format but for some reason nothing clicked for me. Something about the authors style did feel easy to visualize as a movie though and I was not surprised to find that this story was originally a script.

Հետաքրքիր էքսպերիմենտ էր, վեպի սյուժեն բաժանված էր տեքստային կտորների ու ամեն մի կտոր ներկայացված էր տարբեր ժանրերի միջոցով, զեկուցագրեր, ռադիոհաղորդումներ, նամակներ, մահախոսական և այլն։
Հեղինակն ընտրել էր շատ սուր թեմա, որի շուրջ կառուցել էր զավեշտալի ու տարբերվող պատմություն։ Որը սակայն առանձնապես հույզեր չառաջացրեց ու նաև ցանկություն՝ հետագայում այն վերընթերցելու կամ ինչ-որ այլ եղանակով վեպին վերադառնալու։ Մեկ անգամվա համար գուցե արժեր։
Հեղինակն ընտրել էր շատ սուր թեմա, որի շուրջ կառուցել էր զավեշտալի ու տարբերվող պատմություն։ Որը սակայն առանձնապես հույզեր չառաջացրեց ու նաև ցանկություն՝ հետագայում այն վերընթերցելու կամ ինչ-որ այլ եղանակով վեպին վերադառնալու։ Մեկ անգամվա համար գուցե արժեր։

Mission, oh so delicate and secret, because army and pimping do not even mix well. That is given to us by Captain Pantaléon Pantoja, chosen for his undeniable organizational skills, rigor, and blind obedience to his superiors. Embarrassed by the content of this mission, Pantaléon will put all its "professional conscience" at the Service of its success. He endeavored to recruit the most efficient visitors to meet the needs of his mates and profitably cost while maintaining optimal health and safety conditions and preserving an atmosphere of Service as military as possible.
A parody situation is more accentuated by the fact that our Pantaléon is a virtuous man who discovers a universe far from his and must hide his activities from his wife and mother. Despite a business plan to make a consultant fade with envy, the excellent wheels of the SVGPFA will somewhat have to seize by disruptive elements that the military logic of our fearless captain did not allow him to anticipate.
Suffice it to say that we are not bored in this novel and laugh a lot.
Vargas Llosa offers us a jubilant satire on military and religious fanaticism, also original in its form.
The author alternates different narrative forms, which energize the narrative, surprise, and contribute to its humor. Letters, radio broadcasting, and embedded dialogues indicate the speaker's actions and relations with soldiers about the Service of the visitors, where the antagonism between the form and the subject is hilarious.

رواية رائعة إستمتع بها في كل صفحة من 311 صفحة، خاصة تعمق بانتاليون بانتوخا في تحليل و دراسة خ.ز.ح.م.ح.ت، كذلك التقارير التي أرسلها إلى رؤسائه في الجيش.
تاني رواية أقرئها لماريو بارغاس يوسا بعد "من قتل بالومينو موليرو" جد متحمس لقرائة رائعته "حفلة التيس".

Обожавам тънката ирония, с която латиноамериканските писатели обвиват тежката действителност и нелепата, но болезнено истинна реалност.

Un capitán modelo del Ejército Peruano recibe una inimaginable misión secreta: poner en funcionamiento un servicio de visitadoras (entiéndase prostitutas) para los soldados que se encuentran en la amazónica ciudad peruana de Iquitos. Una trama atractiva que el Nobel de Literatura asegura que la historia está basada en un hecho verídico.
Con acierto, el autor recurre a la comedia para narrar los sucesos de “Pantaleón y las visitadoras”, un libro que, además, refleja las carencias morales y los prejuicios de la sociedad peruana. Curiosamente, las visitadoras no son los personajes más cuestionables del libro, sino aquellos que, por defender “la moral y las buenas costumbres”, las miran por encima del hombro y las juzgan de “inmorales”.
Un recurso narrativo que disfruté muchísimo fue la superposición de escenas, diálogos, personajes y tiempos narrativos. Así, entre un párrafo y otro, el autor mezcla personajes que se encuentran en lugares diferentes, manteniendo conversaciones distintas, pero que, al unirse en un único discurso, le permiten al lector tener una visión global de los sucesos narrados en el libro. Una macro escena hecha de pequeños fragmentos de otras. Debo admitir que, al principio, pensé que mi libro había venido fallado, pero, pocos párrafos después, cuando entendí la lógica, empecé a disfrutarlo como niño.
¿Aspectos a criticar del libro? Pocos, pero importantes. Por un lado, hay un exceso considerable de personajes y, en contraste, son pocos los que se desarrollan o juegan un rol relevante en la historia. Los personajes militares son demasiados y, a la hora de la hora, sus nombres, rangos y roles dentro de la trama se confunden fácilmente. Además, me hubiera encantado conocer mucho más a las visitadoras y sus mundos internos, pero la mayoría de ellas tienen una participación mínima. Quedé un poco decepcionado en este sentido. De hecho, durante años, gracias a la película y a la obra de teatro, pensé que este libro se centraba en el romance entre Pantaleón y la Brasileña, pero, en realidad, se basa en las peripecias del capitán.
Finalmente, si bien sí disfruté el libro, me quedó un ligero sin sabor en la boca, pues la ciudad de Iquitos está representada desde una cosmovisión completamente costeña. Salvo algunos atisbos importantes, como la historia verídica de la Casa Eiffel, todo el mundo amazónico está narrado desde la visión y los prejuicios de personajes provenientes de Lima.
