This is a wild story that I think a reader will either really enjoy, or really dislike. I fall into the former category and loved it. It’s a weird, lovely story that keep you invested from beginning to end, trying to figure out what is fully going on. The glitches and gender swapping made for interesting moments throughout the story, and honestly, this is one I may go back and re-read just to experience the beginning, knowing how it ends.

Really enjoyed this one. The shifting versions, stories, and settings for the same characters was fascinating and very well handled. Technically also a post-apocalyptic novel, which generally isn't my favorite genre, but this was far more than just that, and far more interesting because of that.

The blurb for this book gives away what is revealed at the end. Some readers see this spoiling as a disservice to the book. However, without the blurb, I don't know that I would have satisfactorily understood what this book was about, even after finishing it. I may have been really frustrated while reading it, having no idea what was happening.

I found the reading of this story to be kind of depressing, but still appreciated the sad beauty of it.

SpoilerAs humankind confronts its end a recording of our history, a memorial to our existence, is uploaded to an operating system in Earth's atmosphere. But the data gets corrupted. The stories in this book are the program's attempt to remember/make sense of what happened.

Very intriguing, but, unfortunately, not very well-written.
