maybe a 3.5. I still feel a little lost and detached from the story.

  • Plot- or character-driven? A mix

I genuinely have no idea of what's going on 90% of the time or what everyone's motivation is supposed to be anymore. Thankfully it ends with a "bang", so that kinda makes up for it.

But I'll need to do some recap + stop for a while, because this shit is confusing.

Meh. This volume ends in basically the same way the previous volume did, except with some massive explosions in the middle of Neo Tokyo. The plot hasn’t moved forward significantly, characters are still ciphers, and it all seems like mindless action for action’s sake. No thanks, I’m done with this series.

Holy crap, things have taken a weird turn here: the book and the movie storylines begin to diverge. It's awesome that the action is so well paced, but it's sad that it makes me skip pages too fast. I guess a future re-read is in order to fully appreciate the art.
