When I say that I want enemies to lovers THIS is what I mean! I don’t think I’ve read two characters that have hated each other so much. I didn’t think they were ever to going to get to a place of even liking each other. Kidan had me stressed out the whole time! Susenyos I have grown quite fond of you. I was itching for them just kiss. Really excited to read the next one.

Everyone told me to read this book and everyone was right; this was so, so good.
Getting into the story took me a bit of time, but once I was invested, there was no going back. Despite it taking me a little while to feel invested in the story, I felt connected to Kidan - our protagonist - immediately, only caring about her more as the story progressed. She is how you write a complex, morally grey character. Kidan's such an important character, in regards to her emotions and her anger and her fierce love and I adored her for it.
I can struggle with dark academia because it sometimes feels overly pretentious with nothing to show for it, but all of the subjects discussed in here felt earned, if that makes sense. There was never a moment that the discussions felt like they were only happening for world-building; I felt they were genuinely having them because it was important for their lives at that moment.
The vibes were also incredible. Spooky, dark, and with plenty of angst, it was the perfect fall read.
Overall, if you like dark books about vampires and angry girls, you'll love this one.

Wow! What a book. I am unsure that I have the words to do it justice, but i am going to try. This book was so well written. I honestly felt like I was Kidans shadow, experiencing everything along side her. It was brilliant writing truly, and quite hauntingly beautiful. This book was a bit darker than my usual tastes, but so completely compelling. It was a story of love, and how far we'd truly go as humans for the ones we care for most. There was so much pain and yet hope dripping from these pages. The characters were so beautifully flawed in their own ways, but that's what draws you to them. Their humanity, even amongst the immortal. They all share the same thread of life, no matter how different they are. I couldn't really predict anything in this book. It kept me at the edge of my seat at every turn. What a brilliant and beautiful story. Not to mention it had super short chapters, which I adore! I can't wait to see what happens next in this story. Especially with that ending!
