I have to say I really struggled to get into this book. Whether or not that was because I kept expecting the characters from the Percy Jackson series to have a bigger role I don't know, but it took me quite a while to really get gripped on the story. That's not to say I disliked the book or the story, it just took me longer than normal to get into it. I have to say I had been looking forward to finally reading this series after hearing so many good things about it. Now that I've finished the first book, this all makes sense. I find myself now excited to rejoin Percy and see what he's been up to, but also look forward for when I get to hear from the characters in this book again. I understand why it was written the way it was as I still felt I had no clue what was going on until near the end. I really like the roman/greek gods and demigods division, although at times it does feel confusing throwing all the different names around, but maybe that's because this was the first book so it just takes some adapting. I'm really looking forward to seeing what twists and turns this series is going to take.

Idk what Rick Riordan does in his books but they’re so good. It’s like he sprinkles CRACK in between the pages to get you addicted to it like oml.

Great characters, AMAZING story. 1000% loved it.

it took me so long to finish this only because i had a hard time connecting with jason & piper — they were kind of boring/ uninteresting characters in the beginning but towards the end they got a bit interesting. leo was definitely The character of the book for me. i gotta say, though that the narration in this book was a lackluster compared to the original pjo series because percy was just booming with personality and was overall such an amazing narrator — which made this book seem a little boring.

i loved it a lot though. i especially enjoyed seeing annabeth and thalia again! the ending was great and definitely had me hooked.

The Lost Hero - the first book in the Heroes of Olympus series follows the events of the OG Percy Jackson series, but there’s a catch - Percy is missing. Jason, who can’t remember who he is or where he came from, Piper and Leo, who have seemingly known Jason for a while, are all thrust into the world of mythology whilst on a field trip to the Grand Canyon. Following disastrous events on this trip, the are whisked away with Annabeth, who has been told that Jason is the key to finding the missing demigod.

This book in true Riordan fashion is a blast of a read. Easy and fun, quick and intriguing. His writing and comical form of his words make his books such a delight to read. This series, I can imagine, will continue to make twists and turns that’ll have me fooled, but man, am I excited.

A well deserved 5 star read to kick off this series.
