Compared to the other books from the series, I definitely cried a lot on this one. Firstly, bcs of the animal cruelty 😭 Secondly, I hated Claire. Thirdly, I love Mollie 😭😭 Mollie might be my fave side character from the series.
Anw for me this was going a bit slow at first, but then the pace picked up after 150+ pages. Rather than the usual gagging cruelty, this one felt heavier on the mental and psychological side. I've been reading this at night and I'm creeped out mann. Especiall becaus this time they also involves a psychic.
This is the eleventh book I read from the Robert Hunter series, and I feel like this one's pretty unique from the others bcs of the involvemen of a psychic in the investigation and because there's two killers instead on the usual one in this.

Another banger by Chris carter
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The executioner is where your worst fears are going to come true. The killer knows your deepest darkest fears and is now coming after you. Inside a Los Angeles church, on the altar steps, lies the blood-soaked, decapitated body of a priest. Carefully positioned, legs stretched out, arms crossed over the chest, the most horrifying thing of all is that the priest's head has been replaced by that of a dog. Later, the forensic team discover that, on the victim's chest, the figure '3' has been scrawled in blood.

Sure as hell, I love Robert hunter and Carlos Gracia, but what I love even more about this series is - realistic and deep motives behind the crimes. I have stumbled across crime books like non realistic murder motives that made no sense, but when it comes to Robert hunter series, they are so believable, the reason why things were the way they were. The bone chilling back story of the killer, i actually, for a second, had some corner of sympathy for him.

Another appreciation, for adding a side story, Mollie woods is missing, at first seems to be a part of the mainstream, but I totally loved how the side story ended. I would definately like to see D-king in the next book in the series.

Bad boy hunter with sweet and innocent Gracia, a perfect recipe to catch a crazy ass physco serial killer. Chris carter definately knows how to play havoc in your imagination.

I had the audiobook by storytel the narrator Thomas Jud did an equally amazing job. He is the reason for me, Robert hunter is alive in my imagination.

DID NOT FINISH

TW: Halfway through it talks about CSA I believed the description was unnecessary and I could tell what was going to happen there’s also no trigger warning.
dark mysterious tense medium-paced

I have read two books of this collection to date, and with all my heart want a need to read all of them. Chris Carter's writing is impressive, the depiction of the crime scenes, the details and problem solving is incredible, by far the best crime author I've had the pleasure to find.
This being said, and leaving the note that this is an incredible book, complex and fascinating, it also has a lot of very graphic detailed deaths, includes animal abuse and sadistic killings that even to a person very fascinated by crime and the psychology behind these acts - was shocking and brutal.

I think about this book often for the brutality of the crimes, and still find it a superb, complex work that I will revisit in the future.
