As a Black woman, I feel even more empowered to be my best Black self. I live for seeing other Black women feeling confident and speaking like the queens they are, and this book is perfect for helping them do just that. Britteney Black Rose Capri does a wonderful job giving the reader an insight to just a few of the experiences of black women and pulls plenty of emotion out of each moment. When she celebrates, you want to celebrate with her. When she's sad, you are sad too. You are pulled in and made to feel each and everything she describes. Its perfectly passionate and and phenomenal expression of Black existence. Just perfect.

You don't need a white girl to tell you this is something really fantastic. But damn.

A quick read-a-thon pick from a poet who is new to me. If you're seeking work with a very definitive voice, check her out. She is vibrantly herself and unashamed of her words, actions, or her target audience (which, I recognize, is not me).

This poetry book was everything!! I almost read the entire book in one setting and I had to force myself to slow down so I could enjoy each poem more thoroughly. Definitely has restarted my love for poetry & got me out of my reading slump for 2021.

2 of my fav quotes include:
“All these poets is my sons” -tndr

“I keep telling myself I don’t want men anything like my father but the last four dudes I’ve taken seriously have been libras and sometimes they forget it text or show up. And if that’s not a daddy then I don’t know what is.” -zaddy

My favorite poems also include:
“real women have” “queer enough” “micro”
