I always find Carol Lynne books a quick, simple read, but I really loved this one, I loved Briar and hope to see him in some other books

I loved Lynne's portrayal of Brier, our "not very smart" (slightly mentally handicapped) hero. He was a sweet and very real character and his struggles to fit in and keep his promises resonated with me. I love stories about the underdog. :) My only protest is that the book is a bit too short and I didn't get as much as a feel for Jackie. Jackie and Brier's relationship started (I think) in [b:Tortured Souls|5588708|Tortured Souls (Men In Love, #6)|Carol Lynne|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1226369156s/5588708.jpg|5760052] and I really wish I could have seen more of their beginning (I might have to buy this book.), but this one was still very clearly the cementing of their relationship and their HEA.

Now THAT. THAT is what I call a proper love story. There’s no doubt I’ll be coming back for a reread some time in the near future. Brier and Jackie’s relationship absolutely melted my heart. All in for the angst!

Before you read this you need to read the Men In Love series by the author most especially Men In Love 06 - Tortured Souls and Men In Love 07 - Reunion or you won't get all of Brier's story

I gave 4 Stars because it's a great premise and I really love Brier. I should have taken off a star (but I didn't) because I was lost occasionally since there apparently is an intense back story in another series - Men in Love. Wish I'd known that going in.

This book actually makes you think.. and it made me feel uncomfortable.. and that's the crux of everything.. we get wrapped up in our little cocoons of comfort and don't always stray from them, I think especially in this genre.

This story follows on from the rest of the stories presented in the Men in Love series where we first met the charachters - Jackie & Brier. I think whilst it would read as a stand alone read, you really should get to know all the other players in the story first..

There were moments when I felt a bit of anger towards one of the charachters and whilst I still haven't come to terms with the theme in this book, I really think it's a good read for anyone wanting to challenge their comfort zone a little bit.

Love can conquer all, loved how Jackie was willing to take Brier anyway he could have him, the good and the bad.
