really enjoyed this! I really like the poetry/verse way it was written. I liked the characters and the growth they went through finding themselves. I really appreciated the topics discussed. I can’t speak for them because I luckily haven’t dealt/experienced these topics. I would definitely recommend this.

Phenomenal. This book was over too quickly for me. It left me wanting more, but at the same time, I’m happy where it left off. I love books in verse, and the poetry here is flawless. It blends beautifully and seamlessly with a lighthearted, human, familiar and unfamiliar story.

I really loved this. The poetry was beautiful as was the growth seen in most of the characters. I’ll be reading Dean Atta again!

This book is a coming-of-age novel in verse that does a few time jumps and covers a lot of issues with identity from family to sexuality to race. I wanted to appreciate it more than I did. Some parts were beautiful and I would really be enjoying the book, but then other parts felt disconnected and ground the pace to a halt to the point that it was a struggle to keep reading.
