Kinda guessed the ending  because the hints and misdirections were a little too obvious
although the way the jewels were hidden was pretty ingenious to me

Not one of her best works but decently paced. Can feel she is attempting a new style of writing that likely influenced Dan Brown's works - interweaving of different stakeholders' povs throughout the story.

The girls' school setting works because it's so fun to have a mostly female cast of characters, including spies, villains, mothers, and some devoted educators. I was shocked--shocked!--by the solution to the mystery, which is such a delightful feeling. I also appreciated how Poirot was a minor character who came in at the end in this one.

Another entertaining Agatha Christie!

This one, although labelled a Poirot case, only features our favourite Belgian sleuth at the end of the story, taking on the mantle of the 'deus ex machina' to sort it all.

Instead we get a novel that goes from the exoticism of a tale of international conspiracies to the banality of a private girls’ school in England. The author plays with different strands, focusing on a variety of characters, all with a good dose of humour. I personally rather enjoyed seeing all these disparate personalities, from the girls to the teachers, and their various motivations. Fun too :O)

Technically you can’t call it a Poirot mystery because he lacks existence for 3/4 of the book. You also figure out the main plot twist pretty quickly. Then it’s boring for a few pages and then Poirot enters the scene to give us the final reveal and maybe a bit more.

Still a good book exactly because you figure out the placement of the stones mid book. That normally doesn’t happen in an Agatha Christie book.

I really enjoy Christie and I enjoyed this book a lot. I think it was really surprising and focused less on Poirot and more on the side characters, which made for a nice change of pace. I would say this is less of a book where you can figure out things yourself and a whole lot of the details are revealed towards the end. It did have a very slow start however and it took almost half of the book for me to get really stuck in.
