I loved Code Name Verity, and didn’t realize that this book is part of that saga. World War II - pilots, undercover agents, code names, this book has it all. I absolutely loved it.

Code Name Verity is one of my favorite books ever so I was looking forward to reading this and it did not disappoint. I loved reading about the development of the relationship between Louisa and Jane and how they became closer through the circumstances surrounding them. I admit I got a little choked up towards the end and my heart broke a little.

I loved Julie/Queenie making an appearance here and it made me super emotional. If you read Code Name Verity then you know why. Also loved Ellen and her no-nonsense attitude and Jamie as well. Okay, I loved all of the characters, kinda hard not to.

This is definitely going to be in my top five books of 2020 list.

I so so love Wein's writing!

I was very excited when I stumbled across this book in a bookstore last November and realized it was in the same world as Code Name Verity and Rose Under Fire. I hadn't realized there were more.

I was even more excited when my husband gave it to me for Christmas.

This book was as amazing as I expected. Her characters are so real and raw, wildly determined even in the face of catastrophe. And I really appreciate how things do not always turn out okay. That was life in WWII.

Louisa is an absolute favorite addition to the Verity world and seeing more of Jamie and Queenie was special too.

I added this book to be TBR list after seeing so many people raving about Code Name Verity. Goodreads lists this as book #1 in the series so I read this first. However, according to reviews this is a later book?? I still plan on reading Code Name Verity, but I wish I had known that Code Name came first. I'm glad to hear that the reviews I read found Code name Verity better than this book.

There were parts of the story I found interesting (the women's stories and Odysseus) and parts I found boring and I skimmed (the pilots' stories). Overall, the story read just ok. I have hope that Code name Verity will be better.

Loved it! Elizabeth Wein's incredibly vivid writing style is as amazing as ever with this new installment of her sort-of not-really series. I especially loved being able to see Jamie and Ellen's perspective and experiences during the war. Louisa and Jane were absolute delights as well and I highly highly recommend this book to any fans of Wein's other works.

There's lots to like about this novel, but the pacing just didn't work for me, and I found the POV shifts too frequent - as soon as I cared about a character's inner life, I'd get thrown into someone else's head. And I just don't like planes all that much.

I loved the relationship between Jane and Louise, and Ellen.

A great addition to the Code Name Verity series! It seemed relatively lighthearted and a bit funny, until more of the reality hit me in the last 50 pages or so. A great cast of characters with some old and some new.
