Escaping Exodus

This book is different from anything I have ever read and I am glad that I finally read this book. Honestly this book makes me want to dabble into more sci-fi fantasy books because it was that good. This story caught me by surprise and I loved this story about Seske and Adalla. Seske is considered royalty and Adalla is a beast worker that takes care of the ship, which is actual functioning beast that they travel in space in. I loved the idea of how that this world was ruled by women and they had the say on who they wanted to marry or be with. I definitely want to read the nest book because both Seske and Adalla grow so much in this book that I want to know what happens next with them both.

conceptually so cool and and weird but after the first half …. it really fell apart for me. Relationships between characters lacked depth and realism, and then characters kept dying very abruptly w little emotional fallout which was frustrating

Wow. I really enjoyed this.

Lots of easy comparisons to Kameron Hurley’s The Stars Are Legion, but this felt simultaneously less and more gruesome, (in different ways). It was also more understandable, a smaller scope in some ways, but more complete also.

This really was fantastic, and I stayed up way too late reading it.

This just wasn't for me. I never really got invested in the world or in the characters.

The world was intriguing, it sucked me right in. But, I wanted more. Even as the story continued, and kept me wanting to learn more, I had questions about how we ended up in the situation that we found ourselves in.
By the end of the story, I was excited for the next book in the series. Is this a duology, or will there be more? Will we ever get the back story of what happened to get us to where we found ourselves?

This was really good! Many hundreds of years after humanity fled earth, people live inside giant spacefaring creatures, traveling the stars and vaguely hoping to someday find a new planet to colonize. Certain plot elements don't hold up quite right, and the way men's rights are talked about in this matrilineal society are goofy, but overall I really liked the worldbuilding and characters, and I'm very curious to read the sequel.
