I liked the historical pieces of the novel which gave the story a more realistic background. The POV of minor characters was great! I loved hearing their side of the story too. Well done mystery- kept my interest and I did not figure out the ending in advance.

Although an interesting story, there were way too many POVs, most of which didn’t even lend anything to the story. This was also much more a drama story than a thriller.

Was not anything I expected. It was slow and at times just plain boring.

Lippman not only writes mysteries well, she steadfastly hews to her setting—always Baltimore and environs, using landmarks, history, and social divisions that truly exist and add a depth of atmosphere rare in genre writing. This story is set in 1965, long before the Tess Monaghan series, but allowing cameos for numerous people who appear in that later-set series.
