The first part of the book was credit difficult and I struggled at first with what felt like trauma dumping. I was not interested in simply feeling the weight of another’s suffering and mirroring the sense of incomprehensible pain that cannot be overcome. HOWEVER, by the time I got into the middle third of the book, I was interested and curious. By the end I found myself so engaged and joyous and sad that I cannot help but to give it five stars and recommend it to everyone.

Incredible personal analysis of one woman's experience with complex PTSD and how it's affected her interpersonal relationships as she's grown up. I will be returning to this book time and time again to glean new lessons from Foo's pages and from my own experiences.

This book is incredible. I picked it up because I work with a lot of clients with CPTSD (social worker) and I'm always looking for own voices mad lit to read. I came away having learned so much more about myself and my own experiences than I expected.

Foo is an incredible storyteller and her story is beautiful for it's grit and having come through the darkness. I've recommended this book to some of my clients, I think most folks who have experienced childhood trauma and/or abuse would find it helpful but mind the content warnings and take care of yourself, it's a powerful story but here be dragons.

A story of healing, recovery, intergenerational trauma, and every form of love.

10/10 would recommend.

Highly recommend reading this as an audiobook to benefit from the author’s narrative performance as a radio producer and to hear actual clips of the therapy sessions.

Amazingly written. This book has changed the way I view my inner thoughts and has encouraged me to really do more work for deeper understanding and acceptance of my mental health and all that comes with it. Thank you to the author for the vulnerability and educating readers on such important topics.
