Baz. Cute and loveable. I loved watching his character growth and am looking forward to seeing him blossom in the second book.
Emory. Whiny and self-centered. I could see why she makes the choices she does, but to me she's just a bad person. Maybe I'll like her more in the second book but I did not enjoy reading her point of view in this one.
Good villain, but saw it coming. Good twist. Great side characters. Awesome magic system.
Writing was definitely very YA (I know I know it's classified as that, but sometimes a YA novel reads much more like an adult novel so I was hopeful lmao). I definitely enjoyed the premise of the book. The originality of the magic system is very cool and refreshing. I am excited to read the next book. That being said it did take me a full month to read this one as it was just soooooo slow for a majority of the book. Anticipating the books moving forward to be much faster paced now that the world building is complete! Fingers crossed.
