I think I enjoyed this less than the first one. I couldn't really see where the author was planning to go with this story for most of it. However, it was still a solid, quick romance listen.
Moderate: Suicide attempt
Minor: Death of parent

Plot moved slower than Book 1, though there were definitely some heavy bombs dropped that took the characters time to work through.
Joe Arden’s narration saved this for me
Story: 7/10 Spice: 2/5 Spice Hierarchy: Open Door
Hailey didn’t get her internship papers signed so she has to go back to Wicked. This time Jax comes to see her and they begin more than friendship. They are at a happy spot until their world is shifted.
For what felt like big plot moments, they lacked something when revealed. If this wasn’t an audio that Joe Arden narrated, I may have stopped here. But I’m a people pleaser and felt like I needed to finish the series.

We pick up right where the previous book left off and the story continues. The first book was lots of teasing and waiting but things really heat up in the second book. Haley’s relationship with Jax is so complicated in some ways yet very simple in others, I couldn’t put this book down. I loved seeing them together and everywhere the story went until the end. There was a twist I wasn’t really expecting and the consequences of it made me very angry. I hated how this book ended but luckily, I already had the next one in hand so there was no waiting to see how their story ended.
