This was such an angst filled story!
Hayley has a lot she has to deal with, after leaving her program early, finding out that is keeping her from returning to school, the emotional fallout of learning the truth about Cross, and so much more.
Jax & Hayley have a connection that they can’t fight & their chemistry is insane, but when both of their worlds get upended, will they be able to get through it together or will this be what breaks them?

This was an emotion rollercoaster for me. Between her internal struggle, her struggle with him, and the way the story ends up twisting in a way I personally wouldn’t expect, I feel like my head is spinning a bit lol

There's a two year time jump and then the book just ends. I do not understand why books like this are split into parts like this and I kinda can't stand it.

Really enjoyed this audiobook!
fast-paced

I read Good Girl and Wicked Girl as my last 2 reads of 2023. I skipped Bad Girl because I was so annoyed at the cliffhanger in book 1, and I just wanted to get to the HEA. But I didn't get all the answers to some of the questions so this morning I bit the bullet and read this one.

I'm rating all 3 books 3 stars, and that's simply due to the cliffhanger effect. These are relatively short books, 200ish pages, and while they would have made one very 'girthy' book if they'd all been combined, I would have been much happier as a reader.

The characters are attractive (personality-wise and looks). Haley has some interesting quirks, but she and Jax have very strong chemistry. He's a rock star musician and while this is shelved as an age-gap romance in a lot of reviews, I don't actually find their 8 year difference all that shocking.

She's dealing with growing up without knowing who her father was. Jax is dealing with some issues in his personal life that revolve around his immediate family. They come together, then they break up. Then they get back together, then they break up. So it's like the 3rd act breakup you expect, only you get it over and over again.

The writing is Very Good. I'm just personally offended by the 3 book premise. And not only that, the "bonus epilogue" is a 4th book.

Finished. Liked the characters and the story. Did not like the multi-book thing.

Spoiler
One of the reasons I bought the 2nd book was because of the mention early in Wicked about Haley trying to call Jax to tell him she's pregnant, and trying to call him again when she miscarries. However, there is NO mention of this in book 1 or in book 2. If I missed it, please feel free to comment and tell me where. Because otherwise it was just a huge "drop this here" moment with no background and no follow-up until book 4.

This recently updated edition of the Wicked trilogy not only has an amazing discreet cover but has all three books- Good Girl, Bad Girl and Wicked Girl- within one. Separated by three parts, it is easy to follow along with the audiobooks, which are available to listen to as stand alone (and on Scribd).

Synopsis: Hayley is a broke computer science student. Jax is a famous rock star. The two meet when Hayley take an internship at Jax’s label and despite the age-gap, the attraction is there. However, due to their traumatic pasts and workplace situation, the two are scared to chance.

Thoughts: Overall, this series really shocked me in the best way. I wasn’t sure at first because of the rockstar trope but Piper delivered an authentic story without the stereotypical rockstar persona. Hayley and Jax were made for each other, and I loved experiencing the moment when they were ready to put their fears aside and accept what they have. I listened to the audiobook, and Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood did an amazing job narrating and brining the author’s words to life. We know from the start that Jax and Haley are two complicated characters with traumatic pasts, and I was impressed by how well the narrators added this emotional piece to the story you that can’t often get from reading.

Read if you like:
-Rockstar romance
-Age-gap
-Dual POVs
-Addictive storylines
-Complex, likable characters
-Computer Science

Good read

Good continuation of the story... Just as things get started tragedy strikes. There are a lot of side plots that I wish were fleshed out more... Hopefully in the next book

Book 2 was better than book 1!!

After the end of book 1, both Haley and Jax went separate ways. Haley, made that Jax had kept things from her. and Jax was trying to help his sister get away from her abusive husband. Both struggling with different family problems that they eventually lean on each other for support.

This book gets spicier than the previous book. Jax goes at a slow pace since Haley doesn't always enjoy being touched. Their relationship gets cuter with each chapter. I was so happy for Haley to finally be kind of getting to know her dad that parts of this book just ruined me.. I was crying for her more than once!

I hope in the next book they finally get their Happily Ever After..

2/3 Slightly predictable, but addictive progression.
